Michelin XL's vs XZL's

does anybody have any cose up pics of the beads mounted, I just mounted up mine and it looks like there is a big gap between the tire and wheel, although they are holding air fine. just curious, Ive heard these pop off the beads easy and I can see why. anybody have any feedback on this?

Dustin

How wide are your wheels?

These tires were intended for pretty narrow wheels. 6.5" or so.

yeah, my wheels are stock 95 F-250 wheels, I think they are 6.5-7'' wide.

Got any pictures? I've heard of guys mounting these on wider tires without too much difficulty and several of the guys on here run them on regular 16" factory wheels.

Maybe it's because the LAV's had those big @ss bead lock wheels?

yeah when I got them they were on a two peice wheel with a mag ring kinda like a split rim, with rubber run flats. I will take a pic to show what I mean about the gap.

CDA 455 did you use a bead sealer or bead glue on yours? judging from the pics it looks like you did.

Dustin

here are some pics of the tire. they have held air fine since mounting.

That is correct; good eye!!

When a local shop were mounting them, I asked what the black tar-looking stuff was. They said it was a sealer.

Dumb question: Why would they use that stuff?

Might be they had the same concerns about the bead that 35dp does. :dunno:

Got the wheels today and the XL's should be here on Wednesday! Now to Meijers to find a bulk pack of airsoft BB's and figure out how to weigh them...

XZL's

I haven't had any issues with my XZL's. Did very good in the mud, snow, and going over rocks. They are a very HARD compound though and the sidewalls are stiff. But I like them a lot.
Mine also have a large gap between the tires and wheels when mounted.
I'm thinking about grooving them a little for the wet weather on road driving.

Did you mount the tires or did a shop do it?
The gap ever give you any issues?

Dig the Blazer by the way.:waytogo:

Les Schwab (Local tire shop) mounted them for me. No issues with the bead at all, just seems to be the way the tire is made. Probably due to the very large ring from the split rim...
Thanks for the compliment.. Don't get that very often. Usually people make fun of the paint scheme.
