OK, a day trip to Silver Lake would be a lot more fun if they weren't out of vouchers. Couldn't ride until 5pm, so we had like 2 or 2 1/2 hours in the dunes and 7 hours on the road. Jekquistk5 showed up so late we only got one run in together.
The H1 tires and double bead-locks worked great, though. Climbing the dunes seemed almost easy this time. I just put the 4.88 gears in the front end the night before and I've got to say that 4.88 are great.

Getting there early on a holiday weekend is a must....I think the voucher center opens at 11 am Friday, and the earlier times go quick as you probably found out by now. I usually try to get in town on Thursday to get a jump on things...

Yes, 37x12.5x16.5 Goodyear MT OZ. I don't know the pressure I was at - my silly gauge starts at 10 - so a little lower than that.
There were people in line with me at the voucher center looking for Sat, Sun, Mon vouchers and they couldn't get in on Sunday until 5pm either. That sucks. It's cool seeing all of the rigs on a busy weekend, but it's pretty hard to do any real wheeling.
You can't get vouchers early on a day trip unless you know somebody else who will be there the day ahead...

I've also gotten a voucher for 9-11, went through the line to get in, wheeled around for a while, came out in the mid afternoon, then sat in line again for about75 minutes waiting to get back in....would be nice if they could do something better, but in the old days before the voucher center, people would camp in their trucks on the road to get a good spot in line.
For days you do not need a voucher its a weekend, holiday thing.
Sorry it took so long for me to get there. I love my girlfriend and her friends but trying to get them anywhere on time is a pain in my ass!
My truck did well, climbing is a lot easier with the rear welded. Only real breakage was my battery tray ripping off the fender
