My 78 K5 Blazer currently has this style of mirror that I really don't like.

I prefer this style of mirror.

Has anyone swapped mirror styles? Which style do you prefer? Are there any benefits to keeping my current style? Removing the current mirrors is going to leave some holes in the door.

btw - I think these mirrors are really cool.

Either some donor doors, or new holes for donor hardware for the mirrors. I know some of the auto stores (kragen, autozone, etc) has those newer style mirrors you can check out. I would find some OEM ones though.

that last truck has "Cars, Mater" mirrors.

If you swap mirrors, you might look into installing the brace that the factory puts between the inner and outer door panels. I can't tell you if the mirrors will shake without them, but I saw them in an '86 I parted. They were on the bottom bolt for the mirror.

Cant answer your question but what lift and size tires are in that first pic. I like that stance, etc.

Pretty simple to swap on the style mirrors you showed on the mid 80's K5 to yours. Ive just lined up one existing mounting and drilled two others for the smaller mirrors. But then you'll have two extra holes left in your door from the lower tripod brackets from the old ones.

I actually did a similar swap on my 77. It originally had the tiny mirrors. I went to the junk yard and pulled a set of stainless mirrors of a 86 burb. To install I just drilled holes in the door and used the screws that came with the newer mirrors. Since I had the tiny mirrors the newer ones covered up my old holes. I did get the door support brackets but I never got around to installing them, I didn't had problems with them rattling or going out of adjustment.

My '77 also had the tiny mirrors originally. Someone put the newer mirrors on it, covering the original holes. However, with them placed like that, the vent windows could only open part way. I put the stock tiny mirrors back on it, rather than drilling a third set of holes.
