Missed out on the Advanced Auto closures

We have one DG for two counties with a combined population of something like 31,000 and covering 6,000 sq miles. Must be a back east thing.

When I bought my house twenty-one years ago there was only one store at my exit off of I-10 and that was a Dairy Queen that has been there since 1966 when the interstate was first built - I liked being out far enough away from everything but all that has changed; first a DG popped up and they broke ground on a Waffle House last month.
Each exit east and west of me ( about five miles each way ) has a DG & WH at each one too - it’s ridiculous !

The pop up dollar stores as well as Walmart are an extraction service to pull value out of a town. It does everything a general store, that could be locally owned and provide people an honest living does, but the money doesn’t stay local. They pay so low that the employees have nowhere else to shop.

Sorry about the soap box, I’ll get off of it.
No, you're right on target.
I try to only work with local, and the smaller the better.
I only go to corporate when it's the only option.

I went by the aa in my hood and they have batteries at 50% off. There stupid computer system is down right now so no transactions.
Im gonna go back by later to check because they had a full shelf of 134a cans still and lots of oil.

Anybody ever seen a list of closing locations?

I didn't go in, but it looks like our store is staying. Drove by and didn't see any sale or closing signs.

I'd heard most of the ones being closed were in the west. We'd had one opened a mile from me about 9mo ago. It's closing along w/ all of the ones here in phx. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and took advantage of the prices. They had a couple of hard parts, along w/ a bunch of consumables that are gone. Couple of tools i'd not had.

Went in the other day and it was pretty picked over.

Talked to the manager and he'd moved out here from AL or GA or something and now has no job. Nice guy, feel bad for him.
I heard the same that all west coast stores are closing. I’m putting a 5.3 in my K5 and picked up almost everything during their sell-off. Waiting in line to get into the stores sucked. In the Phoenix area, they were only letting two or three people in the stores at one time.

The “perks” program also counted on the purchases, which was insane to me, but I used them.

These stores also had a lot of loss from shoplifting before limiting people in the stores.

I believe here they were mostly bought out by other stores last year.
There are none within 100 miles from me.

I missed out. Wanted to get a couple more gallons of iso68 for my lathe but it was gone by the time I got back. oh well..
