What kind of brush did you use? I'm thinking about coating my bumpers with that stuff. Would a foam brush work? I'm also debating a foam roller since it's a large, flat surface.
 
I think I read a guy said they foam didn't work. I bought a couple $1 brushes and a couple $2-3 brushes at walmart and didn't see any difference in quality between those. I will buy a few more $1 walmart brushes for finishing a couple other things. You do loose a few bristles but if you pay attention while brushing easy to see and pluck out then swipe back over again with paint. I just did the dash panels and just get a good heavy brush of paint out and slather it on, this paint it pretty tolerant to being sloppy. Too light and it doesn't get the hammered effect.

Good thing, that's how I always paint. :rotfl: Wife always gets mad at me when we do home painting projects because I'm slopping paint around. :whistle:
 
If sloppy wear good rubber gloves. I wore some smurf gloves but got a big ol slobber on my elbow and might as well taken a grinder to it to get it off afterward. Probably not as bad a herculiner on the hootus though..... :haha:
 
Been doing a few little things while I wait to get started wiring everything. Kinda waiting to get my ECU/harness back from 150tunes so I can see where that lays before I get too carried away. Its been there for 2 months so hopefully its in the que. In the mean time I got the air intake support made. I will pick up a larger filter now that I see how it all clears. Also made a pocket for the brake pedal to swing into the firewall. My interior is the original GoatBuilt version before the redesign for for drivers leg room. This will allow me to adjust the pedal an inch lower. I am also working on a drop footwell pocket for the brake side too. Started wiring in the gauges, replaced all the bulbs with LED replacements.

Still waiting on engine harness/ecm from 150tunes so trying to get some small stuff done till that arrives and I can start wiring. Got some storage worked out in the back. Also been working on the mini ibex a little too.

Hey Matt where did you get the brackets (particularly the closure latches) for the Rubbermaid tub? (the black w/ grey top)
 
Thanks, that SWAG is a nice piece, I have a couple of those bins, used them for years, and like em alot.
I think they are bigger than the 8 gal, but not sure they are the 24 gal size...I plan on using a couple in the back of the Maiden as well.
 
What LEDs did you go with for the gauges? They look brighter than the ones I used for my Autometers. Mind linking me? :)
 
I totally just looked at the pics and skipped the words (its what I do with books:whistle::dunno:) and saw the pic of the mini at the end and was like "wtf did you start all over?":haha:

Really liking your storage compartment.
 
Worked on the roof today. Drew makes one for the chassis but I wanted it to go all the way back to the C pillar bend area so hopefully rain and such won't drizzle down the back of your head. Had an old road sign around the shop that was 48" square. Did some reading and road signs are a T6 aluminum and very hard/brittle and not easily bendable. Read about annealling it and bending perpendicular to the grain and with a larger bend radius. I cleaned off the sign stuff with a wire brush on a 7" grinder then sooted up the bend area with just the acetylene then used the gas to burn the soot off. Supposed to be a good indicator of proper temperature without melting the aluminum. Then made a press using some 1.75" solid rod and some larger planks screwed together with concrete flat ties and bottle jacks. First tried jack off of a 1-ton pickup bumper but jut lifter the truck up. Ended up using the semi truck and even it lifter a little but got the job done. Then cut the sign down to 46" wide so it landed about in the middle of the roof tubs and made the visor 1/2" wider at the bottom to follow the line of the chassis getting wider from the roof down. I had previously welded trick tabs with rivnuts to the roof tubes so have it bolted down to those. Need to add a few tabs to the front visor area tomorrow. Will get some paint in the future.
