MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

Does the trans cooler have its own fan? I'm sure you've considered it but how bout protection from trail debris?

yeah, its the b&m with fan and temp switch built in. Had one in the same spot under gas tank behind cab on the sonoma and worked great. My thought on this rig is being under the tank it will block some of the noise from the fan too.

Messing with some small stuff. Got my transmission dipstick in today. I think I can make it accessible enough to get to dipstick from the front above the lower control arm.

so you didn't trade for the FJ then huh?

That's cool. I'd almost rather have a short dip stick like that. It wouldn't be that big of a pain to just crawl up under there and check it.

Guess I never really thought about that. :)

It's now for sale :deal:

Decided on a tube style after all and was able to route it up ok. Been working on the front driveshaft. Was going to try to run enqual length main shafts and have the front intermediate shaft make up the difference. Problem was the front shaft barely cleared the LCA being that long at full droop.

HAD had a mixup when building my intermediate shaft anyways and made it 3" too long for equal shafts but look like it will give better driveshaft clearance anyways so probably going to use it and have my spare with enough slip to still fit front or rear.

Any reason to use double cardan on the intermediate? is it because of the flange on the atlas?

The drivetrain angles back/down at 6 degrees and the intermediate shaft will angle forward/down 0-2 degrees so the joint will run at 6-8 degrees. Hope to keep it vibration free. I'll probably end up building a spare intermediate someday that will likely end up with a single joint just for cheap/ease though.

Got the carrier bearing mount finished. Designed it so one way the intermediate shaft is at 0° or flip the mount over and it is 2° down if ever need to change the pinion angle/castor. Mounted on bushings like Drew's build, that made good sense to me w/o doing slip in that shaft.

Also mounted a rear lightbar from RuffStuff

Working on the transmission cooler mount. This is the same location I did in the Sonoma, under the fuel tank. Thought it would be a good spot on this too hoping it will keep the noise of the fan muffled from the occupants.

I had won a set of custom emblems from a facebook giveaway from EmblemArt.com. Thought this came out kinda cool.

That's a bad ass emblem.:pimp: And a mental note has been taken regarding the adjustable angle on the intermediate shaft.

FM Fab hooked me up with a pair of their joint jackets. These are perfect for my spare shaft.

That's WAY better than a conversion joint!

Just kidding. Joint jackets are kewl. I could use a few.

They are pretty affordable and watch their Facebook or vendor thread on pirate. Every weekend has some sale or free shipping code.
