MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

First step to try and loose some weight. Now to trade or sell my 43s on H1s for some 17" tires.

One day I'll have a set of those

Went wheeling up in Montana with the Magic City 4 Wheelers out of Billings. Not a ton of big stuff at that spot but found a few cool lines. One of the club members there made this video and myself and Greg (orange jeep buggy) have a cameo in it at 7:27. Was nice with the full manual valve body to start in 2nd to get a harder bump on that last little ledge over that rock that was under my rear end.

Went snow wheeling this weekend and compiled some video clips from the first 4 outing with the rig so far here:

In the snow on the way up was still at 8 psi just before dropping to 1-2 psi. On the clip at the end the snow was turning to slush and was 3' deep and stuck a few rigs. Got it blown out for them.

Looks good dude. Did I read somewhere that you are looking to get rid of your h1's and 43's? If so, what would you be going to? I think the stance of that thing looks so good on 43's. Are you planning on racing it, or just want to keep it a trail buggy?

Thank you. Yeah, I am looking into some different wheel combinations right now. I picked up a set of 5 trailready HD 17" beadlocks to get me into a more popular wheel size and am starting to look into tires. I read a lot of good about the bias 40" maxxis treps but not 100% sure I want to step into a sticky yet. One thought is to do a sticky and keep my 43s for mild trail and snow type stuff and use the stickies for the harder rock stuff. Another thought is to sell off the 43s and go with a 42" pitbull rocker that seems to have a lot of good feedback and just stick with one jack of all trades tire and it much more affordable too.

I vote for the 42" pitbulls. That will probably be my next tire when my SX's go bald. I guess it depends on how much you would like to spend too. I bet you could get a good chunk of money on selling the 43's to fund the pitbulls (or you can just donate them to me...haha, j/k). But I have heard those maxxis sticky's are freaking bad A! I guess you have to look at where you want to go with the rig in the future.

P.S. You gonna come down to CO and go wheeling with me and ssyork?

Locally there isn't much my SXs can't do so really the stickies would shine the most on trips to Moab, South Dakota, etc. The PBRs are really probably the best overall tire for my use with a handful of trail wheeling that would suck to just wear away stickies for no need.
I was actually looking into seeing if any wheeling near Ft Collins since I get to Cheyenne a handful but doesn't look like anything too hard in that neighborhood. If I don't go the South Dakota for DTC or Idaho around Labor Day we will probably go to Cheyenne then and maybe I could haul down for some CO wheeling.

Changed the front brakes to the 3/4 ton variety via the TMR brackets. They weren't sure if they would fit with the Solid knuckles but they have a mile of clearance. Brake pedal feel much better, reduced the travel by half so I can adjust it back down closer to the firewall again. Brakes feel good too from just driving around the yard. I weighed all the brake components as I did it and this is what I cam up with (weights are per side):
Oiriginal dana 60 parts-
Used Rotor: 24 lbs
Caliper w/ pads: 19 lbs
Mounting bracket: 9 lbs

New 3/4 ton setup-
New rotor: 18 lbs
Caliper w/ pads: 10 lbs
TMR bracket: 3 lbs

So an overall weight savings of about 42 lbs off the front axle and 12lbs of rotating weight loss.

i had to grind the knuckles a little originally to clear the banjo bolt on the 60 calipers but here is a before picture:

Aren't you worried about snagging it? I guess the stock stuff would rip off it it got snagged good enough too....

Damn Matt. Buggy came out nice! Youtube vid was seriously cool.

The nylon brake line still blows my mind sicne i learned about it a couple years ago. Glad the 3/4 ton brakes got you where you wanted to be!

Got tired of the stupid plastic skins the warp in the heat. Figured since I'm redoing the skins I might as well remodel the hood. I didn't really care for the bubble cowl to clear the intake so I made the cowl full length this time and used some .040" black on black aluminum from the sign company. I have enough still to do the side skins here later.
