Mobile Toolbox

Oh, I didn't realize this was more of a work truck. I thought we were just talking wheeling type situations.

You sound like the perfect candidate for one of those geneva drawer toolboxes. Some guys come into our shop with them and they're really slick. I see them pop up on my local craigslist from time to time. Not cheap but very high quality.

Eh, not a work truck. Its my only truck though. Gets tow rig, hauling, weekend travel duties. Anything too dirty, big, or uncomfortable for the BMW, the truck takes care of.

VERY light wheeling once in a blue moon. But not until i figure out wtf is wrong wiht my front axle.

I just find myself doing lots of projects out of it.

Any link for those boxes?

WOW cool. I like that! what do you mean by not cheap? they don't look that extravagent. a new snap-on full size road chest runs about $1800.

I guess that all depends on a guy's perspective. They really are nice boxes though, I like that when mounted in their intended location if you have a locking tailgate it adds another level of security.

<$300 for the black powder coated 6' bed box. If that would fit my K5 I'd get one for it. My tool bags would fit in them I think and it'd be nice and stable.

Ya that's worth a look for my super duty as well. I always have tools on hand. That's a nice little organizer. My door pockets are full of tools lol.

Do you know how much they actually run for cost is my question?

Oh! I thought you looked them up and were saying the cost isn't that extravagant. Seems like $300-$400 depending on options and where you buy it.
Worth it for a quality storage solution but definitely more than the typical ammo can box a lot of guys run in trail rigs. :D

If I want going with a step side on the CC, I would get a pair of them for it. I just think they would be too invasive in a step side bed.

That's the key. If they don't come in further than the inside of the wheel wells. Then that's perfect.

My buddy has a small craftsman that he carries in an H1 in the space between the rear seats. Did the foam cutouts too, so his tools wouldn't slide around while he wheeled.

Have you looked at the craftsman side toolboxes they mount on the inside of the bed and the drawers slide out towards the tailgate.

I'm betting the Crapsman is subpar quality compared to the Geneva's...

I don't know Geneva, but I would consider that a safe bet, particularly since Craftsman boxes are now subpar to better HF boxes (that cost far less)...

So, i've been scouring craigslist for a Snapon road box, but was having a hard time paying $300 for a toolbox that was older than i am.

Ended up with some Home cheapo gift cards from work, and purchased this.

Surprised at the quality for $150. Way beefier than the cheap husky I had before, and better built drawers/slides than my SPG big toolbox.

We shall see how it works out . Need to load it up, and get some sort of clamps to keep it secured. God knows it would kill everyone in the car if i ever roll the beast.

Anyone have any good box hold downs that are unlatchable / removeable?

Plan to just crew them through the bed floor.

Just for the record you do know there is a difference between a road chest and a top box right?
