I am looking see if I can swap a fron 406 Mog to a Chevy side drop. I would rather not have to change out all my doubler setup to run the Mogs.

I have looked all over and see it posted yes and no.

Anyone have the real answer here?

The answer is always yes with enough money.

I was actually trying to come up with the same thing for my 404 axles (Chevy-side drop) so that I wouldn't have to buy another Atlas4 with a drivers-side front output. With enough work, you should be able to have the housing modified to get the pumpkin where you need it, then you'll need at least one custom axleshaft (maybe two) to put the power out to the portal housings.

Ultimately, I just decided to replace the entire housing with a Spidertrax unit and a Ford 9" centersection. This gave me a better axle ratio (lower numerically) and a stronger locker than the 404 comes with. It seems like you'll either pay for a ton of labor to rework the stock housing, or you'll pay to replace it with something more suitable.... it's $$$ either way. :doah:

If I end up having to replace the tcase with a Ford drop... I will probably just forget about the doubler.

Not the direction I want to go though.

What's the overall ratio in the 406 axles, 7:56:1 like the 404s, or something else???

What's your crawl ratio target for the build?

Ratio is very similiar to the 404s, I forgot exactly what they are. :doah:

Real long story made short...

My K5 was a project from a few years ago. I ran out of money and time on it and it has sat since. Well.... I cant take it anymore. I am selling off things and doing what it takes to finish it up. I am now to the point where I just have to powder coat my rims. Assemble the wheels tires and beadlocks. Get drive shafts made and hook up the trans. Plus small stuff that I have forgot I am sure. But, thats the main points.

It is a 14/60 combo. Detroit F/R. 454/350/203/205 drivetrain. 4.88s in the axles, 44 inch tires. That is what it will be for a little while.

I should have the 406s in about a month and I will mess with them while I finally get to enjoy the Blazer after spending so much time and money in it.

I have wanted mogs under my Blazer for a LONG time. And a recent trip to Germany, and another local guy willing to split shipping with me.... I have a set of 406s on the way.

That gets you caught up on my story. :-)

Crawl ratio... I live in MI and most of my wheeling is DEEP mud. A few times a year I hit the trails. They consist of anything from two tracks to rocks to sand to snow, to rock covered two track mud trails. Oh throw some logs in there also. So, I tried to build the Blazer for it all. I dont think I want my over all ratio much lower at all than what the doubler will give me. I just wouldnt use it enough around here or where I travel to. I think I calculated it out that the ratio I currently have would put me around where a stock Blazer is in low.

Pretty sure you cant clock of 205 all the way around, right?

Also, tires will be a minimum of 44s. May step it up to some tractors for the real deep bogs. But, mostly will have the 44 TSL/Bogger combo.
