This is the one I will be installing in my 72. It's a Danhard. Already has defrost...

Interesting.

90, have any thoughts on mounting it? Hang it under the dash?

Just curious, but what's the advantages to an aftermarket heater?

I think some may put out a little more heat than a stock one, but not 100% sure on that. Only reason I did it was because I mounted my battery to the firewall and ripped out all of the heating.

the big advantage is space.. factory heat is huge.. aftermarket are the size of a shoebox usually... from my observations, aftermarkets put out a tad less heat, but it's comparable....

I just did a heater core with help on my '89. ANYTHING has to be easier to work on then the factory setup.

i'll be curious to see what happens the first time one of us with an aftermarket has the core go... if a replacement core is available, at hopefully the $30 to 50 that a normal heater core is...

or if you'd be stuck just buying a new heater at $120 or so... you could probably pull the summit one out, give it the meash, and match it up to something...

you could always just ditch the y too and run the hose right up to the dash opening on the driverside..

This is what I did, passenger side defrost on the wheeler, nah not nesessary. I am running 2 heaters though. One for drivers side on feet, and the other for the defrost and passenger side feet.

The dash vents come with factory A/C trucks, best way to eliminate all the ugly dash vents is find a work truck non a/c dash, it doesn't have them from what I've seen.

By the one of us rots one of these heater cores out we'll be too old to care for one.
Plus something else thats way smaller and more efficient will be on the market anyways.

Still working on the heater install.
Looking for some sort of bulkhead fitting through the firewall, barbed fittings on each side[maybe a 90 on one end?
Anyone have any ideas?
I looked on most sites and started to get a headache:doah:

I have only been able to find a billet one online or some from summit. Links shortly

i just looked for the one i bought from summit and couldn't find it... wish i could remember the brand name..

Here is a good thread I found: http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/207233/tp/2/

I think I am going to forgot about the bulkhead idea and go with pass through grommets. Anyone know where I can find some thick rubber ones?

Something like these?
