Mom and Dads Suburban

Getting the Suburban back on the road.
I’ve gotten a lot done in the last week, the to do list is decently short now. Hoping to take it out for a shake down run June 22nd, I might actually make it. Drove to get some gas in it last night and to see if I got the TV cable adjusted right. I think I might have a fuel pressure issue, need to put my test gauge on and take it for a drive.

Yes it was definitely “spicier” than I was expecting. I didn’t get any pics of the trail run just scenery pics. The whole trail was uphill with bigger rocks than I was expecting. I took it as a challenge when the first thing the trail description said was “no full size”, after talking to the guy half way through the trail and he said it kept getting more narrow I was a little stressed.
The date code on the Suburban tires say 2001 but they only had about 7,000 miles on them. Not far into the day it sliced the sidewall on the right rear. Of course it was on a hill with no level spots ahead. Hooked the winch to a tree to keep it from moving while we changed the tire. It has 33’s on it, I had the original spare (I think it’s about a 30” tire) and a 35”. We decided to run the 35”, all good for another hour or so then sliced another sidewall on the left front, on went what appears to be the original spare. Yes, three different sized tires at this point. We finished the first trail and I decided to park the Suburban at the intersection of the next trail, dad and I jumped in the “Savalanche” with @Raggedy_Ann and @mrk5.

At the end of the day we decided to run over and check out a pass we’ve been trying to finish the last few years. It’s only open for about 3-4 weeks a year about the end of August. It still has a long way to go, we were determined to see what was on the other side, that meant a long high altitude hike/climb. It was well worth the effort. image000008.jpeg

You must of been nervous about the tires to carry two spares! Looks like a fun day! :waytogo:

I was a little nervous, I figured if anything it would be on the street not the trail that we would have trouble. Very glad we had two spares even if they weren’t the right size. My dad had me order 6 wheels and 6 tires, he said no more mix matched size crap.

The second was to mount the ECM for the TBI. He mounted it up under the dash above the glovebox. I couldn’t come up with a way that made me happy so that was the whole reason for taking it over to him.
Can you get the ECU out without pulling the dash pad?

I just did this last night, but mid-80's had brackets to mount the ESC box behind the glovebox, so I made a tray to hang from those.

Is this coming to Blazer Bash?
That is the plan. Still have a to do list for the Suburban, my sh!tbox is pretty much ready, still gotta get the Duramax ready and two trailers . We are trying to make the trip (sand hollow/ Moab) we had planned last year but had to cancel.
