Montana 1980 K5 Jimmy Build

Seats reupholstered (oldest son wanted a "classic" look, rather than new seats that are actually comfortable). Used Classic Industries covers and a local shop to rebuild the foam. Turned out pretty nice.

I just finished the subwoofer box and managed to successfully emboss some "flare". Fits like a glove, and sounds pretty nice too. If anyone is interested I can post drawings and technical specs. Works out to about 1.33 cu. ft. and the port is tuned to 36 hz. I am using a JL 12W6, but it could fit anything with less than about 8" mounting depth. The front face sits flush with the wheel well when installed. I will post pics of it installed when I get the side panels done.

Any updates brother?
Man, I wish I had something interesting to update. I have been blocking and sanding like a fool trying to get ready for paint. I am hoping September will be go-time!

Did you get the big-block installed in the burb?

Not yet. I think I found a machine shop that I trust to do the machining, then I can start to get off my butt and get it together. Working 6 days a week is slowing everything down haha

Had a hiatus myself after throwout bearing went out on the wife in the middle of a main street intersection during afterschool rush--it will take an extra effort for her to drive it again: just put a 2023 reg sticker over a 2019 sticker and have a meeting with mechanic next week to line out what I want done

Nice work!
Too close to stop now, LOL, keep on it.
Are the boys still excited about it?

They are stoked. The oldest turning 16 and getting his driver's license gave me a nudge in the right direction to get this thing completed.

More progress yesterday. A bigger fluid tip and slower gun speed seemed to help the clearcoat a bit. Still a lot of peal on the flat areas.
