for those of you that run them, do you run them on the street or just the trail??? i know that beadlocks are supposed to be illegal but it probably doesn't stop anyone

also i'm doing a 3/4 ton swap, so i'll have a 10 bolt up front, i've read that you shouldn't put spacers on the a 10 bolt for some reason, but what reason? does it put too much on the ball joints? it would be easier and cheaper for me just to get the spacers, would i need 2" spacers or something else?

H1s are not a traditional bead lock. Mine have a DOT stamp on them. They are heavy for a 10b and would need to be recentered to fit.

Get your 8 lug stuff done, and we can try my spacers and wheels on your Blazer........

That is if 39.5" Iroks will fit in your fenders.

i don't think 39.5's will fit, but i have a set of 38's that i'm going to have to make fit :hack::grind:

i still don't understand why they wouldn't work... is it the wheel bearings or what???

the tires i'm going to run weigh 85 lbs, i'm not running the runflat, and i'm going to get the 8 bolts. you're telling me that the rim its self weighs a $h!t ton more than any other steel rim???

i'm going to run h1's, h2's or 16.5 procomp steelies. the only thing your thread tells me is that your rim/tire combo weighs 163 lbs. that still doesn't tell me why it wouldn't work, what part/parts would fail???

i'm not trying to be a smart ass, i just want to know why it won't work, how much lighter would recentering the rim really be, if you're saying that the only reason it won't work is how much it will weigh???

If you're not running the runfat than why bother with H1s? Do you understand how the bead lock on them works? And yes the H1s are heaver that a regular rim.

Recentering won't make them any lighter, but it will prevent you from running spacers on your front end.

Weight kills 10bs.

Need more?

Wheel bearings are they least of your problems. Axle shafts, u-joints, ball joints, R&P will probably fail first. Most likely the stub shaft will break and destroy the u-joint, which, if you continue to drive on it, will cut the ball joint out, sometimes it wrecks the knuckle, too.

this is what i was looking for, thank you

No prob, if you're not going to run the run flat you really should look at different rims. They are heavy, have too much back spacing (unless you run dully axles), and only come in 16.5".

i can probably get the rims for free, but i'm not sure about the runflats. the only reason i even have the chance to get the wheels for free is the civilians that work on base just throw them away, and there is nothing wrong with the rims. and they are upgrading to the 12 bolts

i have 10 h2 rims but don't want to buy the 17" tires, i have 38x12.5x16.5 tsl sx's already...

I do have a spare tire I could break down.
The you would see how heavy the rims alone are. Could also fit it up to your axle and see how they would fit with 2" spacers.

And if the civilians are tossing the rims you might as well gab them. If you don;t end up using them....someone here would take them.

there's a few rims in the yard that i can use to see how heavy they are, but i can't take them out of the shop. there is also a hmmwv with the same tires that i have (imagine that...) that we're doing hub seals on that i can see how much the tire and rim combo weighs. to me it doesn't really matter, it's going to be heavy no matter what rim i use

Easy enough then. If you need any info about them, just holler.
Where do you work on your K5 at Gulfport? Can't be in a parking lot.

IIRC I weighed a factory rim without the insert at 45 lbs.

You have to look at weight distribution and how far it is away from the center of the rotational axis. A 50 lb. wheel is not going to have anywhere near the effect of a 100 lb. tire.

Can't be in a parking lot.

why not...

if it doesn't require me taking my wheels off i do it in the barracks parking lot. but like this weekend when i do my front axle seals and locker install i'll go to someone's house and do it in there driveway
