The TC EZ-ride is probably the softest catalog lift spring, but it is still a lot stiffer than a stock spring. (You can argue that the stock springs are too soft and sag over time, but we are usually talking about more than 2 decades on them. How many of us will run the same suspension for 20 or 30 years?) And the stock ride is maybe OK, but of course has no suspension travel.
A lift spring increases your suspension travel in theory but can be so stiff that in practice it isn't moving much further. If you just want to fit bigger tires and don't care about the rest, then a lift kit is fine. The stiffer ones even last a long time.
The stock rear springs are nice and soft and give great flex, ride and travel when you move them to the front. However, they require a bunch of other supporting mods and they tend to get trashed in short order.
Enter the custom spring. ORD sets you up with a tall stack of thin leaves that rides better than stock, gives you the flex and suspension travel you want and holds up to moderate flexing. If you want something that truly works, this is the way to go and it's a simple bolt-in affair. Paired with some decent shocks (i.e. monotubes minimum) this is a good leaf spring suspension.
To go further means using some round springs.
