I went to 5 different yard today...drove a total of 250 miles...c/k 5;s are more scarce at these lots than they have been at those closer to me...here is a hodgepodge of what I saw:

all I found today was a shifter knob for the transfer case. Somebody got all the headlights already

Dissapointmemt ?...up here that would be a gold mine..at least they have "some" trucks and parts there--finding any 67-72 trucks here is tough, older ones even more so..the few still existing in an old yard are blocked in by so many other vehicles and sat so long, trees have grown up through or around them, and all that remains is a rotted hulk with a seized up engine (if any drive train is still there !)..

I've been eying more and more old c-60/70 grain trucks for sale in good shape recently. Around here , these seam to be in the best shape cause the farmers don't drive em in winter and all. I was thinking on finding one like the old 66 or whatever it is, and shortening the wheelbase to a 1 ton truck, converting to 4wd and rockwells or axletechs. Also a custom pop up camper for the back. Maybe one day.................

wish I could save the 'burb.

Those 2-3 ton trucks have survived here better than the smaller series--like you say, they probably sat out the winters,or being higher off the ground keeps rust at bay longer perhaps..you see many more of them than pickups or suburbans of the same vintage..

Once in a while I see one that someone shortened, and put a dually bed on,driving around...

I knew a guy who sold car brochures at a swap meet, who had the sales spot next to ours--he had a sweet '66 GMC C-40 or C-50 series dually truck that had a factory camper on the back, with a walk through cab--almost looked like someone took a tandem axle camping trailer and mounted it on the chassis, but it was 100% factory..(not sure what "brand" it was, probably some factory aftermarket conversion company).....it had a 427 tall block factory, and the thing was in nice original condition..it was "big",but not a "bus" either..just the right size to still be manuverable around town, yet not cramped for space inside..

Looks like there is some usable parts there. Good gmc and Chevy 72 front clips. Would be nice to see that blue cabover get rebuilt. Still got the dogdishes on it. Very hard to Find in good shape.
