Sooo.... The valve train has started some wonky noise.
I hate it, top end needs work.

It's at 96K HARD miles.... :doah:

I was REALLY thinking of tossing a 6.0L Chevy, in it.

How much work would be involved?
Same as a swap into older, non-FI, Chevy?

ECM/Harness/Fuel tank/ motor/ re-program/? :dunno:

After getting whoop'd by a 5.7L Tundra, I NEED MOAH POWAH!!!!! :woot:

Also....

These Tundra's came with a TRD Supercharger option,

Taking them from 245HP, up to 368HP.
So, I think the rear end could handle a 300Horse motor...

Im not sure if it was the tundra or the titan that basically had a dana 60 with 9in style retainers. Either way if its a toy rear they are pretty beefy. Especially in the larger varieties.

They can withstand constant abuse, in the near 400 hp range.
So, I'm confident in it.

We've put the Tundra in some ridiculous situations, and it's always handled them. :D

Sh*t, we almost made it up to Super-Bowl, at Sand Mt., but lacked that little extra bit of power... :doah:

I think this truck, with one of those BD ZO6-LQ4's, would be BADA$$...

It could be a 'Silverado Edition'... :haha:

It's been several years ago, but back when I had my Camaro, I'd run it down the local track on the "run what ya brung" nights.

I went up against a Toyota pick up that really gave me a decent run down the track. I couldn't figure out how he was able to keep up with me once alittle past the line.

Turns out, he also had one of those factory superchargers on that motor, damn thing was FAST. He informed me though, that the reason he could not beat me, was he couldn't get off the line without spinning the tires. Apparently, that year or model truck, they hadn't designed or made a locking or limited rear diff yet or something. So off the line, he was spinning while I was grabbing and taking off.... for a short distance,,, then he was just hanging there with me the rest of the way.

Yeah, the rears could handle the power, and again, I don't know if they have changed their ways yet, but you'll need to see about some sort of traction aide if they haven't gotten around to it yet.

It was definitely a sleeper truck too, looked like a stock, plain Jane standerd pick up.

Mine has the 'Tow Package'... 4:10's, LSD, HD springs, etc. :waytogo:
She grabs concrete like a beast! :D

The first couple years of the TRD uperchargers, they Didn't have the LSD in...
As you stated.
They were made to be a 'sport' package, with 'highway power' in mind.

The real sellers were the TRD Supercharged V6's.
Namely, in the 4 runners...

The V8's, not so much.
That's why they discontinued the superchargers, under the guise of 'fuel economy'.
Or, so I've heard...

Enough customers complained about it, that they added LSD...
Prolly for boaters.. :haha:

Why would you want to? Why not just pick up a long block or put a set of heads on yours?

I'm researching the 5.7 swaps, atm.

The wife said, when it needs rebuilt I can do a swap, if it's cheaper than a dealer replacement. :D

I bet it would be easier/more cost-effective, to install a BD Turnkey engine, than a Yota 5.7...
But, I'm looking it up.

And, a sleeper Tundra, Packin a 6.0L w/ a Vette cam sounds so much more bad-a$$...

remember you need a 04+ motor or it isnt going to pass the BAR. Also i doubt those BD motors come with all the smog doodads. Seems like a big pain in the ass to me.

Stock rebuild and supercharge.

We're NEVER getting rid of this truck.
It's my wife's baby.
Her dream truck.

That aside, I'm gonna price a rebuild, supercharger, and install.

Mounting it is easy, CA emissions is up to you I guess.

The big issue I see is wiring, without an aftermarket harness to do what you're trying to do, I could see this being a very time intensive swap. On top of that, you need new headers, exhaust, sensors, and plenty more that you won't even know about until you get there.

I'm a BIG fan of the LS Chevy motors but I'd stick with Toyota if I were in your situation.

Have you thought about one of the rear mounted turbo kits. You have all kinds of room.

Toyota stuff can handle serious loads . They have very stout bottom ends....always have really

Maybe I misunderstood but it sounds as though you want to stick a chevy motor in a toyota? I'm no engine swap expert but I thought that was a no-no as far as DEQ was concerned. I thought you were only allowed to swap a motor from the same manufacturer that is the same year or newer then what it currently has.

I'm looking into getting rid of my blazer and buying one of those toyota tundra's or a ford f250 diesel.

Yah i dont see how it would be cost or time effective. Motor mounts, chevy tranny? Sounds like a headache on a nice rig to start weldin and fabbin on it.
