More power in a 2004 Tundra?

Maybe I misunderstood but it sounds as though you want to stick a chevy motor in a toyota? I'm no engine swap expert but I thought that was a no-no as far as DEQ was concerned. I thought you were only allowed to swap a motor from the same manufacturer that is the same year or newer then what it currently has.

I'm looking into getting rid of my blazer and buying one of those toyota tundra's or a ford f250 diesel.

It has to be the same year, or higher, and the same Vehicle classification.
Along with smog BS....

That site is pretty interesting. I assume they expect you to find your own engine managment system? I didn't see anything that controlled fuel and air with those kits.

Seems cool and daunting also. The hardest part is the engine management.

I hope you can get that thing on a dyno and get some serious dyno and tuning time. I have no idea what tundra motor costs but I suspect they aren't cheap. I hope you share the progress you make. Anytime someone goes down these paths the info gained is invaluable. Should be a beast if you get all the quirks worked out.

I also have access to some pretty good engine tuners. :D

One of our instructors has a 1.8L Integra pushing 607hp, at 20 somethin pounds of boost.

Ya its pretty amazing what those honda motors are capable of. I had a 98 GSR Integra back in 98 that I stuck a JR SC on. I was running 8-10psi boost. Had around 240 hp if I remember correctly. The car was a blast to drive and would peg the speedo with ease.

I remember the biggest problem I had was getting brakes that were big enough to dissapate the heat fast enough. I warped and turned blue countless brake rotors. Once kids started getting a hold of the car and started sticking racing stripes down the middle it was time for me to sell and buy something else. I bought my first NSX soon after. I'd love to add FI to the NSX but entry level systems start at around $10k. For that I'd rather buy another toy. Guys are getting 500 wheel hp out of the NSX motor easily.

Once you start boosting it is extremely addictive and usually you run out of money before you run out of boost. :thumb:
