MOTOR CUTS OFF WHEN OFFROAD THINK IT\'S THE CARB HELP

My motor when it is jut driving around town is ok but the when you start to offroad it starts to act like it is starving for gas. Fuel filter is new so is fuel pump It has a crapy edelbrock I think it is the cheap one. Any way Any one have some Ideas or I need a Good off road Carb can't do fuel Injection to much $$$ any ideas?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Buy the off road kit for your card, I paid 13 bucks for mine new and installed it and works a whole lot better in the bumpy offroad conditions. If you just want a new carb, get a quadrjet or a Truck Avenger carb.

What about Edelbrocks new I think it is the Thunder AVS Seris made for offroading

TBI. Swaps right in, all you need is the TBI set up from a junkyard donor (87 and up), and the computer and wiring. Should be easily able to that for the price of one of those Phuck Avengers.

OR: be like me and keep waitning for that Powerball to get it right and throw a Ramjet 502 in there, along with Dana 60 front, 70 Rear, 49inch IROKs, crossover, tubes, machine guns and lazers, 4-link, naked hookers, shaving cream.... oops, thinking of money makes me say dumb things. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Never heard anyone say anything about those. Saving for a set of injection myself but that is a ways down the road.

dont buy these either---almost killed my friend when it died on him going down a hill.

I have tried all the tricks to make the holley and edeldrock carbs work offroad and nothing compares to the quadra-jet out of the box

you can do anything your heart desires with sbc's. you need everything from the tbi truck like computer tbi of course, intake, all sensors, etc.

I have an eldebrock on my pickup. It wouldn't run on an incline untill I put the spring loaded float needles in it for "off road".

Any ideas why my quadrojet won'tidle when the engine is warmed up on a hot day. Or is it the carb. Tried adjusting the idle mixture and idling it up but didn't notice any difference. It's a stock 1973 K-5 350.

F.I. is the best solution, but it's not the cheapest. In all honesty, it's hard to beat a Q-Jet carb for off roading.

You saw mine in action , when I kept right up behind you on FR42. My original one , after a refresher course in Chevrolet ( was out for several years ) , runs just as good off road, it does have bad throttle shafts though , only reason I bought a new one . autozone special $129, warranty, get it off a 69 el camino, or chevelle, OR 76 blazer w/ a 400

those have been the best to us---they have very little emissions and the are the cheapest ones we have found.
