Assist rods? You mean bitch arms? This tail gate requires you to man handle all 100lbs of it to close and open it.

when i pulled a set for a body lift i can say for sure they help a LOT after i disconnected them ,

I truly don’t know what you are talking about but I can promise you there is zero assist in this thing. It’s a damn squat press to close it it seems like.
