What kind of heads are those and what's your compression gonna be?

I need so much more power to move my Burb around!
I gotta start activily looking for a BB myself.

Thanks for the comments fellas /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The Heads are 336781 cast, big oval ports not the peanut ports. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
The compresion is around 9 to 1 I have no idea how to figure out torque and HP? Hell if it spins my 35"SSRs then I be happy /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Burt, that is looking awesome. I bet you will just love that injection. Thanks for posting up the pics! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

What's the specs on the rest of it. I have been drooling over the MPI set up for years. Can't wait to get mine of the road. Hopefully someday I can get the Edelbrock Set-up.

That is frickin tight aint it! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

What specs are you after?
I pick it up tomorrw after work so that is when I will get all the details on exactly what was used.
What I do know now is:
Edelbrock Multi-Point EFI(sequential fire)
CompCam - Duration = Intake@ 210 Exhaust@ 218
Lobe Lift = intake@ .297 exhaust@ .297
I think thoes are KethBlack pistions, I don't remeber what the bore ended up being. The block was Decked & Squared true. Everything was blanced.
The heads were also ground nice and straight and completely rebuilt and the big stainless valves, with some smoothing out of the runners will flow more than factory /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
If you have a specifc question I can get whatever info you need /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif
YYYYYEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBC!

Damn...very nice... /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I'm thinking you'll be around 350/375hp with that bigblock, with no problem leaving tire rubber all the way down the street...

what are you planning on using all those ponys for?

Heres some info on the high comperssion BB

SAE Gross Horsepower (advertised): 430 hp @ 5,200 rpm
SAE Net Torque (advertised): 460 ft. lbs @ 4,000 rpm
SAE Gross Horsepower (actual): Approx. 550 - 570 hp @ 6,200 - 6,400 rpm
SAE Net Torque (actual): Approx. 470 ft. lbs @ 5,200 rpm
Displacement: 427 CID, 6997 cc
Bore and Stroke: 4.251 in. x 3.760 in. (108.0 x 95.2 mm)
Compression Ratio:
Maximum:
Nominal:
12.8:1
12.5:1
12.9:1
12.0:1

Hmmm, ya the build up is a mild build for continous duty/reliability.
Do you know what a 454 HP/Torque makes on average. My build up is a notch or two above stock so your guess of 350/375 is based on what? The 9.1:1 I will have?
Just curious cuz I have no Idea how to "guesstimate" the HP/Torque?
And you asked what will I be doing with the ponys & stump pulling torque?
First is getting all the parts on my K5:

back seat of K5
Then someday I would like to take my K5 back to Moab:

Wheelin baby!! That is what I will use the ponys for /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Very nice burt! Sounds like a good cam also, in my 350 i have a 212/222 duration @ .050 and yours is almost the same. Mine is just slightly lumpy at idle and gives good TQ and HP throughout the rpm band, my cam was the stock 300hp/350ci cam that came in like a '69 vette and GM also puts that cam in the later 350HP/350ci crate engines.. My fuel injection definatly woke up the low and midrange out of my engine. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Burts gonna use all that HP for doing a smokey 4 wheel burnout all the way up Lions Back next time at Moab! /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
I better get some nitrous hooked up on my k5 for our competition hill grudge race, Burt's multi port injected now AND he's got 100 cube's on me. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

BAAAAAAAAAWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPP!!!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMPFIRAT!

hahaha That's right RB.. BBBAAAAWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAPP hahaha

4Wheel Burn out up Lions Back /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Dude that would be a sweet video, but a VERY VERY SCARY thing to do!!! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif That freakin hunk of rock goes WAYYYYYY up there, hell my ears poped going up it is so high /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
Not to mention if you turn right your DEAD if you turn left your DEAD /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

YYYYYYEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAFIRST GEN EFI DUAL!!! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Those headers look sweet /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif What brand are they?

I better get busier on my 454 as I know your gonna be busy too /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

checking around some more, looks like a stock BB from 71' w/open chamber heads (LS5-LS6) was getting 365/425hp, now they had 11:1 comp back in the day. If you look at all the high po parts your adding to your motor, headers, cams, polished heads etc:, you should be right back up to those numbers, but remember the BB will be either a low end torque monster or a high rev'ing be-ach. I had and still have it, a BB that was turning 8300rpm's in a boat, it was 13.5:1 comp w/alum heads and loved to rev... so all the HP from it was top end.

CPH: 454ci, 365hp MT
CPJ: 454ci, 365hp AT
CPW: 454ci, 365hp MT AH
CPX: 454ci, 425hp AT AH

this is an old pic...1986...LOL, I had a yellow boat too /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
