Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

Did you dynamically balance the d-shaft? I'll skip the back and forth and assume no... why not?

I cut the tube length on a lathe and I retrued up the yoke and spline as well on a lathe and made everything press fit so I am fairly confident it will run true enough for me. If I am wrong then I will take it in and have it balanced.

I have seen a friend cut tube with a saw zaw and then eye ball weld in a yoke and spline and the thing ran God willing true with no vibrations. So the fact that I took the time to true everything up and press fitted everything before welding I will be fine. I will find out Friday if I am wrong or not.

I asked about the cv because I noticed the pinion was pointing up at the transmission. Vibes will be an issue no?

Yes the pinion angle is extremely high. The reason I didn't change it was because no actually last year I had no issues with any driveline vibrations at all so I just left it. I am too busy putting my time into fixing other things.

Now it was brought to my attention by a friend today actually what about lubrication of the pinion since its pointed so high and that's a valid point that I didn't think of so it is one of those things that it isn't causing me a problem at the moment and so its not that high on the priority list.

ok, so you know about it. I thought you set it up that way....

I run a little over a gallon of fluid in mine for the same reason.

Yea I think you will be fine on the driveline. I would be shocked if that truck will see 70mph. With as true as you got it, I don't think it will be a problem at those "lower speeds".

I think it will surely blow up and kill everything :D

Yah "hauling" in the dunes equates to doing like 40-50 mph. Its not like we are doing 100mph in the sand.

Well spent the whole day cleaning and organizing and then someone showed up and bought the frame and body from "The Raped Grape" so i just got a whole lot of space back in my shop. Love the room to spread out while working.

I think next time im over, i will intentionally try to set the puff balls on fire so you take them down for good.

Hehe. The last few days the shop doors have been open and couple good wind gusts have staryed blowing some of them down. Ill take them down.....sometime
