Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

Someday i hope for adding on another 30x40 with a paint stall and a lift bay......cause 30'x60' is too small....:haha:

Well i have been working all day now running around like crazy pushing to get all the little stuff done. I have been up for 30+ hours no already and just when i thought i was done i took the blazer out in the field and started romping on it i blew the rear brake line. Soooo... just got back from town with a new spool of brake line and a handful of fittings. This thing is going to the the dunes tomorrow!!!!!!
A couple things I have gotten done today

New assist grips/oh $#(T handles

Got a cage mounted extinguisher holder. Its actually pretty snug and solid. We will see if it stays in place in the dunes.

New alt, new battery, spent alot of time cleaning up and looming wire, new plug wires.

I also have gotten new body mounts in, exhaust in, new sticker put on, and idk other random stuff.

I took tonight off work so ill be up working on it till its ready to load on the trailer and head up. Then i will crash and when i wake up load up and go:thumb:......hopefully. Time to get back to work biznichesss.burnout

You will have someone to take video right? More than anything, im curious to see how you like it with the paddle tires!

Havent had time to think that far. I do have a friend from work coming to tag along. Hes never been to the dunes and i want help for when i break it and have to get it back on the trailer. I have my go pro so if i think of it then yes gonna try to get some video. As long as everything is working as it should.

Its 1 am and still working. Missing one fitting for the brake line to be complete so an early morning parts run is in order. As soon as i finish as much as what i can with the brakes i think im gonna call it a night. Go get a few hours of sleep and then get back at it. I want to be loaded and leaving my driveway by 12......its gonna be close. Need to get that fitting, finish brakes, bleed brakes, bolt check, fluid check, wire up fan on my tranny cooler.

Well the last 48 hours have been pretty eventful.... to say the least.

I put in a straight 13 hours working on the blazer to get it ready and for the most part I was mostly confident it was half put togethor well enough to go so i went to bed woke up and loaded it up. The only thing i had to do in the morning was a parts run for one brake line fitting. When i was at the parts store waiting on the genius behind the counter to find the fitting i wanted in the back i found these shackles

They are 7 1/2" shackles and they are lowering shackles for like a 97 f150 or sometbing..........they also seem to fit chevy race blazer! And they were $35!!!! Just makes me a little curious ords 6" shackles is $190.

Got up there no problems all unloaded and final inspection before heading in.

Went in messed around for 10 minutes then i told myself i should head back out to the parking lot and do another once over.........then i said nahhh im gonna go climb that hill. Then i got stuck

I looked around and saw about 10 side by sides, and 20 quads and bikes. Then thought well this sucks. Waited about 15 minutes and finally a bone stock 2011 jeep came rolling up. He gave it his best shot but couldnt budge it but he gave me ride to the parking lot where i was going to get the ford and go pull it out. I asked the guys next to me if theyd watch my trailer for me for 15 minutes while i unhooked it. The guy responded " thats dumb, why don't we just take my truck(70's ford ranger with 460) so you dont have to air down or unhook" so i hopped in and off we went. He popped me out no problem. I offered him $20 for his trouble and he said "no no no no cause when my a$$ is buried out here and i see you, you'll be the one coming to pull me out." I said far enough. We talked for a while and off we went.

I ran around for a little while more the. Went out to the parking lot and did another check over and everything look good to go so i grabbed the go pro and mounted it up and said ill go out for one more shoot some film then head out. So i scouted a line through a hill section and looked awesome. So i went back and hit it at a medium speed. All good so i went back to hit it pedal to the floor and about first hill in the line i smelt burning first then all the sudden saw smoke so i was slowing down to get into park to check it out. As soon as i stopped the thing ignited and i saw alot of Orange flickering by my tranny ( i have two 7"ish holes in my tunnel i can see through to the ground) first thing i did was shnat my pants. Once that was taken care of i remebered i had just recieved my brand new roll bar cage mount for fire extinguishers, and that i had mounted it in between my seats. So i unbuckled and grabbed for it. The thing was a snug fit and has 3 large velcro straps and i kind of struggled to get it out( thinking of moving location now) but idk if it was just cause i was a little panicked or what. At one point struggling to get it out the flames where starting to coming out of the hole in my tunnel and were dancing on my right leg and was getting pretty hot and i remember thinking in my head. Just get out its not worth it. But at the same time thinking if you get out the blazer is burning to the ground. At that moment is when i got it free and ran around and got the fire out rather quickly. I have seen 10+ vehicles burn to the ground up there and i have always carried an extinguisher because of that. And today i am very thankful for that. I will never run without one. It saved my blazer from burning to the ground today. The only damage after the fire was some melted loom and it melted my brand new air filter pre charger. But ill take that. I do have all of this on my go pro. I had it mounted on the rear of my cage so you once i get the video cut down i will post it. You cant see the flames in the video they are hidden but you can for sure see alot of smoke. The fire started do to tranny fluid shooting out the dipstick onto the headers. I believed it puke because one rhe paddles where a little much for the 4.10 gears. I was working it pretty hard so it was making alot of heat. Second the tranny was overfilled i think. The dipstick is one of those chromed ones and the cross hatches are really shallow and it was hard to get a reading on it. So i have already taken some degreaser and the power washer to it and got all the tranny fluid and extinguisher dust off it. I ground the chrome off the dipstick and etched out the lines deep and now have the tranny filled to where i know its right now. I am going to take the paddles back off tomorrow and just put my regular tires on it until i can do the gear swap. I have a couple other little things i want to do and then i think gonna head on up again!

Glad your ok. I just got a fire extinguisher mount from diy4x and it is a pretty cool design for grabbing quick.

Does it look like it will rattle around? I literally want like 4 of them in mine. One under hood, 2 up front, one in the rear. Fire scares me.

I have two of Kerts mounts and neither rattle. I highly recommend over the 3 Velcro straps :)

Glad Oprah is okay!
