Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

Just FYI, a guy here, rjfguitar room something, just had a good bit of trouble with his Pacific fab swap. And muddy sub has been satisfied with his bd engine.

Ben messaged me and told me about that incident. Its a shame ot happened to a ck5 member. But i totally understand if you have 100 guys that buy the same product guarentee your not going to have 100 of the exact same opinions on the transaction. I can look past a mistake or something forgotten. What i look for in that type of a situation is how the company handled fixing it. Did they jump over backwards to make ot right or not. I will have to read thru that thread to see how they handled his situation.

So who is this guy? And where is he out of $1350 :eek1:

No clue. It's just a Craigslist guy that recently added a link to the bottom of the ads. I wanna say Topeka Kansas.

Based on cruising thru it looks like it's on going? But I only read the last few pages.

I mentioned Pacific Fab and like smokinthehippies I personally know those guys and wheel with them... just so everything is out in the open.
I'm not going to hide that I'm biased towards their shop but I do think they offer a great product at a competitive price. PLUS if something goes wrong there's a phone number and a real shop you can contact... good luck with craigslist sellers.

Well i think i like what pacific fab has to offer the most. What are the chances of getting some personal contact info for someone there and being able to name drop you guys to just help with a smooth transaction:whistle:

You can tell either Kevin or Jason that I sent you.....

They'll probably charge you extra for dropping my name though!!! :haha:

I would leave that J's swap shop alone. I know him. I sell him all if his invt.

Thanks for the looking out. Your a local guy ill take your word for it. If it was closer to were i could drive meet the guy and see the motor running on a stand before purchase perhaps but so far away a little too uneasy for me. I'd rather go thru a bigger well known shop.

My bad Avery. Thanks for the drop.

But first thing first. Going to knock out a couple 70 hr weeks to put away some OT money for that motor. I need to start getting the property and shop ready for hillbilly weekend. Then i need to run what i got for that weekend. In the current state of my motor and tranny i am fully expecting one of them to blow that weekend. I dont care which one. Then its going to be new motor and build tranny as soon as that weekend is done with.

That's the account on IG I told you about earlier that posted you.

As far as Pac Fab goes like the other guys have said, when you're ready just call over to their shop and ask for Kevin. Feel free to tell him we pointed you his way.

When she sent me that. That is the first thing i thought. " i wonder if this is the same account Avery saw it on." I was hoping it was a different one haha

This was pretty much the reaction i was looking for to be completely honest. I think the 4.8 is exactly what i need. Not one thing about Oprah fits into the standard norm of what is expected to do our what the vast majority of people do. Thats why i have a solid axle 2wd blazer that can take down any big block in a poor suspension truck over a distance. Im not building a sand drag truck. My blazer works on pure momentum. The facts simply are Oprah can carry more momentum then 75% of the vehicles i see in the sand allowing me to do much more fun things. So with keeping pace to keeping Oprah different I want the 4.8. Its nota money thing im not worried about spending the money its just for what i do and need the 4.8 is perfect.

I seem to recall a time when not one person thought it was going to be a good idea to make a 2wd solid axle sand truck. Its going to get stuck to much. It wont go anywhere. .........now everyone seems to love the heck out of it. 4.88 gears a 300hp 4.8. In time i think it would be cool to turbo it. But for now i just want reliability, fuel injection, and 300hp.......oh yah and a bunch of people pissed off they just got beat by 2wd solid axle with a 4.8.

To try and put it in a little more perspective. That orange first gen step side deulings cousin bought and brought to the dunes with the nasty 468bbc. We ran a stretch probally 500yds long and at the end of it i was probally 300yds out front. Sand is not about hp. Its about MOMENTUM.

I'm not trying to come across as a dick. Or discredit any advice anyone of you has given. I appreciate all the input. I just know what i want the truck to do and where my own goals our and often times when giving advice or input i think people loose site of giving input on what the owner wants and not what you think would be cool. Or what you would do.

The offer is always out there. If you think a 2wd solid axle blazer making 150hp is dumb and no fun can be had. Get here! And i will prove you wrong:D

I'm not tring to be an @$$ either, just pointing out a few things. I don't think anyone thinks your truck is not cool or not fun. And we aren't saying the 4.8 isn't cool, it's just, more power is cooler! I've never heard anyone say "I wish I had less power" in the sand.

You know what could be really cool? An L33 5.3, an aluminum block 5.3 from a truck, would be super light and badass for a light dune runner.

And sometimes 2WD is fun, occasionally I romp around in 2WD, I've actually had people look under my truck when I am doing it trying to see if my front driveshaft is there, it is, and it works. But that doesn't mean fishtailing isn't more fun sometimes. There was a few weekends where I busted my old front shaft and had to spend most of the weekend in 2WD and if you plan it right you won't get stuck. Although 4 wheel drive fishtailing is fun too.

We ran a stretch probally 500yds long and at the end of it i was probally 300yds out front.

I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate. :D

Im not building a sand drag truck.

...someone is sending conflicting messages there.

I think Oprah is awesome for a lightweight home built cool old sand toy, I think you have done awesome with it. So don't take my comments the wrong way, and if you simply want a 4.8, you don't have to explain it to anyone. If you think it's more fun to say it's a 4.8 than it is to use some extra ponies, then who cares what we think. Your tastes don't need reasoning if that's what you want. Feel free to ignore us and do whatever you want to Oprah, we'll still dig it. :waytogo:

I agree a 5.3 would be cool for the extra 200 but if you are going to toss boost at it the thicker walls would be nice and you will most likely swap cams and then who cares about factory specs then?

The 4.8 and 5.3 have the same bore, it's the stroke that's smaller.

The 4.8 doesn't do anything better than the 5.3.

Martin

I would agree.
