Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

I think a 4.8 boosted will be bad ass.. The cool thing is you get that short stroke so it will rev really quick and not have any issues staying up there. And you get the sweet sounds of nascar and boost at the same time.. If it was me I'd put that bad kinsler itb runner setup on it so it sounded even more gnar!

I looked into the l33 option just for the weight savings. But truth is the l33 is only 75lbs lighter then the lm7. And i think people are paying way too much for them. When the going rate for an lm7 is 300-500 bucks and the l33s are going for 1500-2000. I dont think all that money is worth 75lbs. Stock they make about 25 mpre horse over the lm7, but my thought is you can buy a lm7 for so much cheaper and then take the extra money to make more hp i find the l33s to be a waste IMO.

Izzy that is the article I was thinking of when I posted. I agree the 4.8 is going to be much cheaper and if your going to be inside it sometime just bore it to accept the 5.7 piston and call it a day.. But if not boost is a nice supplement.

This. I want the 4.8 for its quick high revving ability. I want a motor i can run some r's i. And if i do find myself craving more power a turbo is going to fix that. I have talked to tuners and to guys that have boosted 4.8s, 5.3s and 6.0s and for what im doing the 4.8 will get me what i want if i decide to boost.

And we aren't saying the 4.8 isn't cool, it's just, more power is cooler! I've never heard anyone say "I wish I had less power" in the sand.

I still disagree with this. I do think less power is cooler. I am a fan of well built suspension and momentum vs hp. Im not saying hp isnt cool in the right application. Drag cars/truck yah its all about hp. But whats the point of having a high horse big block if you can only stand on the skinny pedal for 50ft because your truck starts shaking your teeth out. I like things in moderation. I just dont see a point. But i've always had different outlooks then most.

I'm just out to prove you dont need tons, a big block, saw zawed fenders, and a doubler to have a B.A. truck, conterary to ck5 belief.

So it is known there isnt one person in here that has offended me. Not even the slightest. I enjoy all the conflicts of interest. Everybody has their own ideas and thats what makes it fun. I like seeing multiple points of view about the same situation. So keep the feed back coming. I dont just try to disagree to be an a$$. I disagree or argue with people because i want to see a point made with thought or backing proof as to why. I dont like seeing just a statement made with no back evidence or the ability to defend said statement.

You bet it's fun to wring it's neck for 500ft not even knowing if your gonna make the hill but sure makes it challenging with less power.. I'm sure there is a nice middle ground..

Say that when my Mega Horsepower TBI blows your doors off :haha::flipoff10::flipoff10:

Just kidding man, it's your truck, do what you want. If you wanted to put a supercharged straight six in it I would still watch. If I listened to everybody who has given me a suggestion my truck would be on one tons and 40's with a 6.0 and a doubler already. I'll just keep going the same places they can for a fraction of the price :pimp:

I think you own the fastest TBI truck out there. Idk how or why but for some reason your truck gets it.......Just ask Deuling how he feels about you beating him:whistle:

$hit, I was riding shotgun with swetty when he beat that duramax truck. I couldn't believe it

Now that the motor thing is settled, how difficult would it be to fab up a straight front axle tube without the pumpkin? Probably lose 150 lbs off the front.

I like the 4.8 idea. Different, short stroke, high revs, if you need more, slap on turbo.

I think he eventually wanted to go to a Beam style front.

I was surprised to see the power numbers so close, although at different rpms. Yeah the 4.8 looses a little torque but with his plan of using momentum to his advantage I think the 4.8 could be way fun. Never lift the throttle and let Oprah fly!!

Then just throw a turbo on with a big hater pipe out the hood (Rotsun style) for good measure.

When you put the cost in there I completely agree, more performance/dollar without the L33. But you said before it wasn't money, it's the cool factor. So don't be trying to use logic and reasoning now, it's too late! :pimp:

The 4.8 will not rev any quicker than the 5.3 would, you just have to rev it more to make more power. In fact, the 4.8 will rev slower most likely because it doesn't have the low end grunt to quickly pass through the lower RPMs under load. It may free rev quicker because the piston speed it lower for the same RPM, but under load is a different story. But a lot of gear can make up for that. However, going back to logic, it is usually cheaper to make the same power with larger motor than a high revving smaller motor. But if you can get a 4.8 really cheap, then go for it.

I can totally understand if you want to rev it more. RPM can be fun. It's the same reason I don't think its fun to drive a diesel, I want to hear the engine sing, not hear it rattle. Although diesels can't be beat for towing, for that they rule.

I still disagree with this. I do think less power is cooler. I am a fan of well built suspension and momentum vs hp.

:yikes: Less hp...cooler? Did you bump your head?

Seriously though, why does it have to be suspension or hp, why can't it be both? Better suspension is more fun than sucky suspension, and more hp is more fun than less, therefore more hp and a better suspension will be more fun than either of the two by themselves. :woot:

I think it's funy when two people race and one person lets off and the other person doesn't and they both think they won. I guess it is a win/win if they both won, everyone is happy. :haha:

I mentioned that a while back when he was ditching the t-case, because it's also unsprung weight you are losing for a better ride. But it seemed they thought it was a waste of time.

Jeep guys run tube front axles all the time in jeep speed. I'd lower it down before I lost a ton of weight below cause it might feel more tippy cause your cg changed..

Yes Jesse is right when its time to change the front end out im going to he looking to do a set of twin beams. I had had thought about changing the front axle out for a solid tube. Bit i dont see that amount of work to be worth it when thats not my end goal. I dont want to invest the time into doing that. Ill jist run it till im ready for beams
