Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

A few other updates. Mainly have been collecting parts but things should start moving in the next month or so. 9" is trussed. Finished machining all my engine and tranny crossmember mounts and got those in. Going to be doing links tomorrow hoping to have them tacked in place by end of the day. Also picked up craigs hydraulic jd32 bender so I'll be starting on cage and back half as soon as links are tacked in place. Then its beam time!!!

Looking good! Interesting wheel choice, I thought for sure you would go beadlock?

I will be getting beadlocks. But 100 bucks for 4 brand new wheels that are the bolt pattern and diameter i need. It gets me rolling. I got my 37s mounted on them today. Now i only need links. Beams. Cage. Backhalf. And wire motor and i can drive it. Not too much left on the list...hahaha

Yeah you're down to the easy part of the list now:haha:

Fock all! Should be done in no time! :thumb:

If he would quit cutting fancy ass show off tabs and link mounts he would be done already. :rotfl:

Course I kind of like those fancy ass tabs sooooooo

Looks like the bolt hole needed a larger OD for the pocket to actually get a socket in there.... Better scrap 'em and start over! :)

Or you can be like me and accidentally cut your fuel pump pigtail out of your harness -_-

Or machined a female hex pocket to fit and capture the head of the bolt like a real machinist...
:sign11:

I like giving fellow machinists crap...they look awesome though.
Well actually so you both know the clearance hole is .01 bigger thenod of the socket so allows for a nice slip fit on the bolt or nut with out allowing the socket to go crooked... Thanky you very much!

....but my luck the sockets i have at work are Probally .020 bigger then the ones i have at home so now im .01 undersized....son of a.

Well sitting at a family function that the fiance wouldnt let me talk my way out of so I'll update where im at.

Got the 9" and the upper link mounts all tacked up.

Got the tires mounted up on the new wheels

As soon as i get home i need to bend my drivers side trailing arm tube and then build the trailing arm frame mounts and then links will be all tacked in so i can cycle.

Oh and i did loose a few hours this weekend due to cleaning and getting my fab area actually set up to be efficient. And im glad i did. So much nicer having all of the tools i need set up in direct reach. Before stuff was just scattered all througout my shop.

Also buddy finished up my harness and brought it over last night. Everything all taped and labeled ready to plug in.

Managed to get the links done all except the frame mounts for the trailing arms. Should be caging and backhalfing by next weekend!
