I've got 20' of usable floor space behind the drivers seat and stairs...
Not really gonna be spending much time on the sofa, just when getting up and putting on shoes... Switching the bunk and sofa would leave less space for the wood stove... The wood stove is a must, camp wood is free...
I drew up 6 different floor plans with everything all over the place... Beds in the back opposite of each other, two couches and no dinette, two dinettes and no couch, toilet moved forward and so on...
Trying to fit the right amount of seats for when we're on the road and enough beds for everyone makes it a little tough with keeping the plumbing on the drivers side... I need the wood stove where it's at because of the chimney... I don't want to take a chance with it on the same side as the awning...
There will also be a trundle bed under the front bottom bunk... The wheel wells have played a big part in how everything is laid out...

OK, here's some stuff I've picked up for the build...
Got a fridge, stove, toilet, the smaller fresh tank, black tank, hood with light and fan, vent and some cushions all for $100...
I scored a larger fresh tank, a pump, converter/charger and a cabinet for free...

A member on another board just gave me this propane tank...
38 gal... I'll look into adding another valve so I can run the bus stuff and fill the Blazer tanks if need be...

I think I'll use this tank just as a fueling station for the Blazer... This will give me 4.5 more tank fulls of on board fuel... That will give me 56 gallons total for the Blazer...
With everything I'm running off propane in the bus I don't see me using more than a 5 gal tank, even on a long weekend...
A buddy just offered me a 20 gal RV tank for free that would be more than enough for the bus...
I like the thought of having enough propane for the Blazer to wheel all weekend...

I'm trying to figure out how to tell my wife I want to buy a bus, what's happening to me. My brother in law called me a redneck because I told him I want to buy a bus and turn the back half into a flat bed. I've lived in the city most of my life and he has lived in the country his whole life. Damn ck5!

Take her out and show her some diesel pusher coaches... Then the price tag...
Next take her to look at some motor homes and show her the price and ask the guy if you can tow 10k with it... Unless he's an idiot he'll say now way...
Show her some toy haulers, again pretty pricey... and you can't fit a Blazer in them... I've looked...
Then start looking at other bus builds online and show her pics of how nice they turned out... Then show her how little it would cost to build a bus to meet your needs and how she can pick the colors of the inside and such... She'll come around...
It's just like everything else, you have to start slow and work up to it... You can just run up and stick it in and expect her to like it...

That's my moto! Besides, its easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. I just bought a 20' gooseneck so I won't get permission to buy anything for a while.

DG, you need to find a way to get your black and grey water tanks closer. Makes it alot easier for cleaning and plumbing. You could have two seperate drains, but it'll be a pain when at the dump station. The fresh water can go anywhere since the fresh lines are small. But grey and black water has sediment and semi-solids that will stick in the lines if they have to travel too far from point of origin (sink, bathtub, or toilet) to the tank and especially from tank to main drain.

pretty sweet. We rigged a fullsize school bus up as a deer lease camper one year. it blew a steering line as we were parking it so it naver ran but the way we had it set up it very well could have.
shower, sink, toliet, two twin beds, window unit, couch, and entertainment system that inlcuded mini fridge, bar, stereo with two 10" subs and surround sound and a flat screen with an x-box 360. good times.
one thing....without insulation, they get hot as hell in summer and colder than **** in the winter. be ready to compensate for that somehow....either a damn good heater or a big ass cooling unit.

Picked up a sink that came with a pump faucet and small tank... Plan on using a different faucet and the tank I already have, but these were free with the sink so...
Also picked up a little propane furnace... I know i said there wouldn't be gas heat, but this is small enough I can fit it just about anywhere and $30 for the sink and furnace was to good of a deal to pass up...:cheer:
I'm still figuring out the placement of the tanks...
I'll do something for insulation as well, just haven't gotten to that point yet...

IMO: put a large drain on the fresh water, that way you can dump it quickly when flushing it out from time to time. It sucks draining mine with the little 1/4 or 3/8 valve. I can piss faster.

So, I'm trying to remove the heaters... From what I've found they don't put off a lot of heat(compared to the space they take up) and the extra cooling they provide for the engine(minimal) hasn't been a problem for others when removed... Kinda crazy the way they routed this...
The heater hoses coming from the engine both have valves... This one goes to the big heater by the front door...
From there it shoots over to the drivers side and goes to the box behind the seat...
It runs almost the length of the bus inside to this box...
Then under and across to this one by the lift...
It backtracks going threw the two previous boxes and makes its way back to the front to this valve...
Then back to the engine...
I'm going to loop the one coming from the front box into the last valve and pull the rest out... The last thing I want is for a heater hose to spring a leak and have coolant inside the bus...

So, we got the heaters out... Gonna save them in case I want to do the veggie oil conversion later... Took the front apart to get to the hoses...
Got the lift out, then started pulling up the plywood on the floor... Almost got it all out... My oldest boy is getting after it....
Have to clean everything up and prep the floor surface for paint...
It looks bad, but it's surface rust... I'll hit it with the wire wheel and coat it with some por15...
I just about ready to start building...

looking good man. love this idea, but it might be easier to buy a trailer
