Muddysub's Toyota crawler.

Was wondering when this update was gonna drop..It looks great..based on that battery disconnect switch...whats the plan for outer fenders?

The switch has always been there, I hid it. I’d like to relocate it though, I’ve pushed the fenders in a time or two. I plan on putting the fenders back on, skinning a set of doors I have here and attaching bedsides as well. I still want it to look like an ‘83 Toyota.

why did you change out the Krawlers for the Crawlers?

Do you plan on keeping this street legal?

My BFGs were cracking really badly, last time out one of them split at the shoulder and debeaded, we put 7 plugs in it. These are used but in great shape, I’ve wanted to try a bigger tire and came across a good deal on these. They’re stickies, much softer than my BFGs.

More pictures ???

I haven’t touched it since I got home. We had our house painted so there’s been a lot of associated yard work. I’ll get to it soon I promise.

were your BFGs reds or blues? i was thinking you had reds already but could be wrong. I bought a set of the BFGs one time off a guy and when i went to pick them up they were cracking and steel sticking out of them. I was disappointed. he told me that's when they work their best. I got home and a week later he started asking to buy them back so I sold them back to him. I have always wanted to try some sticky tires. I stumbled across the Milestar Black Labels on the internet last night and thought about trying a set of those. if/when I ever get my money pit back together (X Chassis) I want to go with 43" SX stickies on it or maybe the new Mickey Thompson stickies.

Dude you took those tires out and drove on them... You're a brave man.

I drove 60mi home on the highway with 7 plugs in that tire.

My BFGs were red labels but so dry rotted that they’re were more scratchy than sticky. These Maxxis are suuuuper soft, I can’t wait to wheel them.

Haven’t done much to the yota yet, I did plan about 22 more tubes to be botched and welded in. I also chopped up a pretty clean ‘83 Toyota truck bed so I can use the sides to skin my truck. A bunch of panel tabs showed up from @Deuling so I can start in on that once the tubes are all done.

Progress has been slow but here’s where I’m at now.

Tube work is done, working on propane, battery, air tank rear shock and storage mounts right now. Once that stuff is done, I’ll start on panels and the front end work that needs done. I’ve got some DIY4X EZ inch blocks here to help make firewall clearance, a steering box relocation kit to shove that thing forward more and a trunion bearing eliminator kit ready to go into the truck. All the parts are here, I just need more time.
