Any advice here? My truck has some kind of knockoff Flowmaster deal on it, sounds and drones just like a Flowmaster. I need to install a cat to pass inspection, but I'm really wondering what I should do about the muffler. Right now the truck is a single-in, dual out and I'd like to keep the same setup and just replace the muffler.

In my younger days I wouldn't care, and I actually don't mind it that much with the windows down. Problem is, when I've got my kids in it with the windows up, I am literally yelling to talk to them in the back seat. And I have a 4yo who asks a lot of questions, so I end up doing a lot of yelling to the back. :haha:

I'm looking for something that doesn't drone, is fairly quiet unless I romp on it, and is cheap. Cheap is key, I don't have much money to be throwing at the exhaust.

Thoughts?

if flowmaster again 50 suv or 50 bigblock will be around the best for inside noise limits.

there site shows levels of noise inside and out.

i had a pair of 40 delta flows and was bad in the crew cab. thay rusted off up here in the salt belt and i swaped in a single 50 suv and WOW :eek1: so much better.

and cheep these days for them i watch ebay for used or old stock.

I have a 40 on my S-10 and it is obnoxious in the cab. My old Yukon had a 50-series and it was a ton better but still droned.

I'm wondering about either a Thrush turbo (I had true duals on my old 92 Yukon with these and I liked it) or a glasspack, which I also had on the Yukon and liked it.

I am torn, I know I am over thinking it and should just go with my experience on it, but I am an overthinker sometimes. :haha:

I just realized how many different exhausts I had on that Yukon. :haha:

Im in the EXACT same type of deal right now

Probably just going with a turbo muffler. But the Cherry bomb vortex sounds nice from what Ive seen on youtube.

If you don't have a cat in it now, just installing the cat will quiet it down a lot.

I've got a vortex on my truck.... I had a Flowmaster 40 on it before, and I actually like the sound of the Cherry Bomb better. It doesn't drone as much, is still quiet at idle, and sounds good if you jump on it. Mines single in, dual out BTW.

Hooker aerochambers sound similar to a turbo, but a little louder, and it is a straight flow through design. My buddy has a pair on his family van with a tbi 350 and a mild cam, sounds pretty good, not too loud, no droning.
