Muffler suggestions (other than flowmasters)

My 406 in my C10 has dual 3" mandrel bent with 40 series, an X - pipe, and it is not what I suspect that you will want ( of course). I put a MagnaFlow on the old tired Jimmy, it sounds good, I know it would talk more with your engine, but my guess is that it would sound great! I don't know about you, but I don't care for any cackling in the exhaust, so I would stay with a muffler that is not straight through. Just my 2 pesos.

I have borla pro xs on my K5, dual 2.5" then dumps out maybe 10" past. Sounds good not super loud but not to quite. Sounds more mid range than the deep throaty sound.

Throw an x pipe in......run one with glass packs on my 97 Sierra as well. It's loud w/o the crackle. And it has 2" right from the headers.

I like my Thrush dual chambered muffler.

I have a set of these in 2.5 in/out. To bad I am going 3 inch...

Magnaflow, Had them on my last few vehicles and been great on all. Nice sound and hold up well.

Very high on my list, want to try a set if nothing else..

I like the Cherry Bomb Vortex I have on my Blazer.

Ill probably be putting another one on the next truck I get.

Also on list, but a bit lower.

Yeah, no cackling for sure, needs to nice and deep. To comment on the x pipe placement from my other thread, the h/x should be as close to the header as you can get it to even out the exhaust pulses. It wouldn't do me much good to put it behind the transfer case, because my pipes will end shortly afterward.
My H pipe will probably live under the t case or so.

See above, will have a h pipe.

Never had a crossover pipe on the 76 Nova, true dual, did have cats though, but ran 2.5" all the way back from the shorty headers, sounded good, no cackling or cracking. I believe those were dual 50 series Flowmasters. I liked the true dual in the sense that I could hear what each bank was doing.

I ended up redoing from the headers back and going with a 3" single, high flow cat and tucked a Camaro style, sideways mounted Hooker Aerochamber muffler up behind the rear diff and ran dual 2.5" pipes to tips. Sounded good that way as well.

I actually still have that muffler here, took it and some other stuff off when it was wrecked.
