My 86 K5 build

looks good. Now I want a HF tube notcher. Kinker, not so much.

All you have to do is minipulate the die to give the pipe more of a snug fit, then it has a smooth bend to it instead of actually kinking it. There are a lot of guys who use these things and I must say, I thought it worked great. Plus, I'm not going into debt for this rig ever, and that includes buying the tools to do what I want to it. So that means you just have to suck it up and use HF tools :haha:

Oh I know what pipe is lol. I've worked as a plumbing ore apprentice for 6 years

And I've owned that very bender for about 4 years, and made 4 bumpers now.

I just wondered if you we're puttin pipe in it, or tune like you said. As tube OD and pipe OD are completely different, and didn't understand how you were bending tube so well.

I love my "kinker" It does a great job as far as I'm concerned. :thumb:

Nice! There are just so many people who think if it's not DOM then it's junk and you shouldn't bother with it. Glad to hear someone else that appreciates the "kinker" :D. I just refer to it as tube out of habbit I guess

hows that knotcher work? like is it pretty sturdy? how are the adjustments and does everything stay tight while you are hole sawing?

Just a eat peeve of mine lol.

But yes, when you can get the bender and 8 die sizes for $160 or so and a jd2 die alone costs more than that... I'll take the little dents and little amount this flattens the pipe (which if you keep it under 60* it's really not that noticeable) instead of spending thousands on a jd2 to bend tube that costs 4x as much as pipe and really isn't that incredibly much stronger.:waytogo:

And FYI it helps so much to put it on a stand when doing long peices so they don't hit the ground, and you don't gotta bend over :waytogo:

With the stand we built, I thought it worked pretty well. As you see in the picture, you can adjust the mechanism that holds the pipe back to whatever degree you need the notch at. We only did this a few times, but it seems to work well. And it held pretty tight the whole time. All in all I thought it worked pretty good. And for the price, it beats trying to notch solely with a grinder :waytogo:

That's what I'm talking about. That bumper looks way good. I think it even looks a bit better than mine. Mine isn't perfect, but I'm going for more functionality than just looks! But I still think it looks good too.

Haha, I feel ya on that. My brother and I got a lat workout when we would put in on the floor and do rows all day long. But you do what you gotta do!

Yah he ran into a tree last weekend. Had it on for like 2 weeks. Bumper looks fine, the jeep was not so lucky:haha::D

Small update, but I like pictures so here ya go :D. I had my brother fully weld up my bumper and we welded my sliders on too. The sliders are not done. We are going to build some small brackets that will go from the main tube up to the body supports and be welded there. Basically just like how diy4x's sliders bolt on to the body supports. Then I painted everything up.

It's Authoritah. I remember watching that episode when it was new in the late '90s when you were probably 9 years old pup!

Looks good, I really like that bumper. I want to do something similar with the A-bomb bumper.

Thanks dude. I think it turned out pretty good. Obviously not perfect, but I like it :waytogo:

I just realized that I almost bought that truck. It wa for sale here in the Springs early last year (I believe). I bought some TBI parts that use to be on it. You bought it from the big guy right?

I bought it from wannabe who lives up here in Parker in Feb of 2012.I kow he bought it off a guy only about 3 or 4 months earlier who lived in the Springs. And I'm pretty sure he is the one who built it too. So that might be who you are talking about. If that is who you are talking about, are you telling me that there use to be TBI on this thing before:doah: Because I would love to have that over carb.
