My 86 K5 build

Nice work with the spring swap and shackles, you beat me to it. Where did you end up getting the rear springs and what lift height does it have?

Thanks dude. I got the springs from the guy that posted just above you...mrk5. Now both my 52's up front and my 56's in the rear came off of his old K5, "The General". From what Scott (mrk5) told me was the 56's were out of a mid 80's 3/4 ton burban. They are stock springs (not lifted springs). But that, with the ez inches, and the 6" shackles, I figured it was right at about 5" total lift from stock.

I think the rear springs were in an 89 3/4t burb. I agree with that combo they should be right around 5"

Small update. My shocks were going to be too short in the rear now with the 56's installed. I didn't want to have to purchase new shocks and I had some shock tabs laying around, so I cut off the factory tabs and welded these on top of the axle. They seem to work pretty well. I may inboard the rear shocks at some point, but these will work for now.

Thanks. Yeah, they seem to work pretty well now. They have plenty of droop now and even at stuff they don't bottom out. I may have to grind down a little of my diy4x spring plates to make sure they don't contact the body of the shock at stuff, but they seem to work really well

Well, after destorying a couple factory bump stops while trying to come up with some custom bumps, I decided to say screw it and just purchased some competition style poly ones from ORD.

You are the man! Thanks dude. I think I want to do this sometime soon. Not having a back window is the only downside, but my entire floor is Hurculined, so not a big deal. I think a functioning tailgate is more important to me :D

Yeah, I haven't figured that one out yet either. Just acted on a good deal on craigslist. I may have the rear line-xed and cut some holes to drain any excess water.

So, my brother forwarded me a link to chassisunlimited.com's website where they are selling these pinion guards for cheap. With their promo code, it was $45 to my door :pimp:. It full 3/8" thick. This thing is pimpin! That price even includes grade 8 hardware

What if I dont Twitfacebook?

Then don't get the discount . I almost bet you they have another promo code on pirate4x4 in the vendor section. Just about every vender in the 4x4 world posts on pirate4x4.

P.S. I don't Twitter either, I think that is even more stupid than facebook already is....And I don't call it Twitter.....I call it Twatter

Ok so I found a good 10% off promo which is "facebook" and brought the total to $49.49 shipped, not a bad deal at all. Thanks for the heads up.

Went wheeling today. We went to Chinaman Gulch right next to Buena Vista, CO. This is a really fun trail that had some pretty good obstacles. My K5 performed really well. The hydro steering was a dream! I only had one issue where my carb was acting up a little. But after some work on it, it ran really good. I am really glad I put that pinion guard on a few days ago cause it saved me a couple times. Also hit my rock sliders really hard multiple times and they held up really good. Also used my Engo winch to pull my dad up an obstacle for the first time....it ran flawlessly. All in all, it was a really good day on the trail. Here are some pics. Should have a lot more coming and maybe some video coming later on.

All loaded up and ready to go

This obstacle is called the rock garden. I took a hard line and nailed it first try
