My 86 K5 build

@Kay86K5 when you have time, can you get a measurement from your rear floor to the bottom of your cage please? I'm trying to figure out some headroom issues with mine, no rush. Also, how do you think your rear seat headroom would be for a 5'5"-6' person? Thanks!

What measurement are you looking for again? Do you mean rear floor to TOP of the cage???

And I'm 5'8" tall, and I have sat back there a couple times as my wife drove the truck. I felt like the headroom back there was adequate. I even had my brother-in-law back there once and he is just over 6' tall. He said he didn't mind it at all.

Top of the cage is fine. I’m trying to see if the rear section of my cage would be average/ tall / short. I figured you could be considered average since a top still fits and adults are comfortable.

I have headroom issues with mine.

Yeah, sure, I'll try and get that tonight and post it up for you. I built the rear part of my cage (at least the core of it) with the top on. It's about as tight as it can be with the top on without the tubes rubbing on the top.

Thought some of you guys might get a kick outta this. I didnt know where else to update this, and since these tires used to be on my blazer full time, I’ll upload it here.

My brother and I went in together and split some 42” pitbulls during the trump sale. The idea was I would put the pitbulls on my blazer full time and we take the 44” boggers and we now both co-own those. Since we both run h1’s, we could both throw them on our rigs if we wanted (we are also building a 4 seat buggy together, so the boggers can go on that too). We thought that it would suck to always have to unmount tires each time we wanted to swap them from rig to rig (my brother runs rockwells, I run 1 tons). So my brother came up with a great idea, and we worked with Neil at Western Canadian Rockwell. We took a set of h1’s, cut out the centers, and now we can unbolt the centers to swap without having to split and swap rims. It means the backspacing is real wide, but each one of us plan to only run these on mud events where its not that big of a deal.

They turned out real good and makes that our co-ownership of the boggers can actually be very useful. Anywho, thought you guys would get a kick outta them.

Havent really done anything woth the blazer as i’ve been working on my suburban, but its always ready to go whenever I’m ready to take it out

Interesting idea

Finally got out to do some wheeling yesterday. We decided not to start until mid-afternoon as the weather was showing rain in the morning and clear in the afternoon, but that ended up being a lie as the morning ended up with no rain, and literally as we unloaded the rigs at the start of the trail, a crazy rain/hail storm hit us real quick to get us all nice and wet and get the trail wet. But it cleared up real quick and turned out to be lots of fun.

We hit the trails Two Headed Dragon, and part of Lost Trail until the dude with the big Ford started having tranny issues, and it was starting to get late, so we headed back. I hadn’t ever been on these trails before and they were awesome. Brought all 3 of my boys and they had a great time too. All in all, sweet day trip

Man, there's a whole calendars worth of great pics just on this page! :pimp:

Went and competed in Idaho Tuff Truck Challenge 2019 again. This was my 3rd year doing this event, and as always it's a lot of fun. I truly have come to realize that my blazer is not built for stuff like this at all (basically meaning I don't have a chance to actually place well in the event at all) but it's really fun, so why not. On the tow test, I did pretty much the same as I've done every time, just a few feet shy of a full pull, Obstacle course did a bit better and was a bit smoother, mud pit did about the same as last year (good grief I hate mud) and the rock course I actually made it all the way through the course for a full run, which made me happy. Again, beat on the truck pretty hard, especially in the rock course, and didn't break anything, which is always a bonus. My brother did pretty good this year. Only had small minor issues (had a bump stop go on him, which caused his front d-shaft to come up and hit his tranny temp sensor and break it which caused a huge tranny fluid leak, but we were able to get that fixed for him for the next event). He also finished all events, including the rocks and placed in the top half of the field. So he did pretty good for a leaf sprung rig too.

Some pics below are some random ones I found from people posting on facebook:

Then the next day, a few of us went on a trail run outside of Mt. Home, ID. I have been to this area before, but we ran a trail that I hadn't don't out there yet. We ran a trail called "The Gauntlet" and just like all the other trails out there, it was awesome. I think I liked the trail run day a bit more than the actual event...probably cause it's more what my rig is built for. There ended up being 8 rigs who went that were all different. None of us had really any issues at all and it made for a really fun day.

Below are some random pics I got from others off facebook from that run:

A few more from the trail wheeling day. I did get a few more dings and scraps on the sheet metal of the old rig, but she preformed great and I'm starting to like the look of how beat up this thing is getting...adds more character, haha
