My 86 K5 build

Few more. The old blazer just keeps on going. I pretty much ride it hard and put it away wet and every time it comes out it just wants some more. Got a few more dent and dings. At one point i barely had it sitting on its side in one of the canyons but drove it out. I don’t think anyone got a pick of it though as we were just wheeling along one right behind the other. But lots of fun, and great weather

Idaho Tuff Truck Challenge 2020 photo dump. Was a really good time, though every year it becomes more apparent the blazer is not built for stuff like that, but still fun to participate and watch all the other sweet rigs. Highlight of the day for me was the rock corse. I crawled the second rock section like a breeze that most everyone couldn’t make up, and those that did either had to hit it crazy hard or winch up it, but the big fat full-size on leaf springs crawled right up it, no winch and no spotter. So I ended up getting 9th out of 40 rigs on the rock corse which was pretty cool to me. And didn’t break anything and it still runs...who’d of thought

The buggy with all the signs for skins seems like it'd be right up my alley. Haha

That guy lives here in ID. It's such a cool unique buggy. It originally started as a K30 way back in the day. When you look in the cab, the dash and firewall are all square body still...obviously it's the only thing left original on it, but still a really cool rig all together.

Lotta big money in some of those buggies I bet. Cool you had fun and didn't break!

Crazy money in some of them. Hence why I don't attend thinking I have a chance to win anything at all. To me it's just really fun to participate, but then it's just as fun to watch some of those high dollar buggies freaking go for it. And let me tell you, they don't hold back, they go for it. There was quite a bit of breakage. One of those buggies has a Trail Worthy Fab "Hero" transfer case, and he broke it. I think that's the first I've ever heard or seen of a Hero case breaking.

So all in all, it always makes for a fun day

This makes me think of @Kay86K5 at Tuff Truck

:haha:

What is even more funny about this is after I pulled off the track and got outta the blazer I looked at a bunch of the other competitors and said, "Are you not entertained!?!" I'm not even kidding I was thinking of this exact meme after I finished the whole course and had to say it. Great minds think alike Scott :rotfl:

The old blazer needed some attention since I’ve wheeled it hard for 3 years with nothing really done to it. First was pulling the doubler and resealing it at the trans adapter since I got sick of the monster ATF puddle on the ground. Next was hood pins since I was sick of smacking the hood 100 times to get the hood to release and open. Last was swap out the old 52” springs that have A TON of time on them for another fresher set of 52’s I have had for a while. Good thing I decided to cause the spring pins were bent and one of the springs in one pack was broke. But this thing should be good for a few more years of abuse now

So @mrk5 looks like your old 52’s from your old K5 are finally done. Kinda crazy when you think how long those 52’s lasted and how much hard wheeling time was on them. I still have your old 56’s in the back though.

That is cool! I think the only thing I'm still running from it is the hood that put the louvers in. I guess Nate has the shock mounts and shocks. So it's still living on. :haha:

I can't believe you hadn't already done the hood pins. Every time I see someone monkeying around with their hood, I tell them to just put hood pins in.

No joke, I don't know why I waited so long either. Hood pins are where it's at! So much nicer than messing around with the stock hood release

I dont know man. Theres something to be said about a busted ol rock crawler with the stock hood latch working lol!
Up until the pinch it worked so well. Sometimes not even a bump of encouragement.

I will say, my blue crew cab tow rigs hood release is eff'n mint! It operates as if it's brand new. That is relatively satisfying for sure. But what isn't satisfying is being on a trail in the middle of nowhere smacking and punching your hood just to get it open to fix whatever you need to fix...that got old real quick, haha

What made me mad was when I'd pop the latch in the cab, then in the process of pounding on the hood to get it to pop up, it would re-latch. I'd be like BANG-BANG and then I'd hear the latch CLICK. DAMMIT!! :angry1: I tried lubing it up, adjusting it, etc. It was all about having to be on perfectly flat, level ground.

Another day trip with a good group. The green crew cab ended up breaking the ram on his rear steer in a tight spot. We spent a long time trying to get him out, ended up using a bunch of ratchet straps to keep the rear straight to get him out. All in all, was an awesome day of wheeling
