I'm thinking with a big block, thats something I should be putting in too.

Are those DIY4X parts?

Someone has to say something about those axle welds cause it's not goona be me:)
good idea on the spring ends.

From the pictures provided. you need to clean the welds and go over them again. More voltage, slower move speed and sweep from side to side. I do not see any heat penetration. Those are going to be a week link. Just to my 2 cents.

I need all the help i can get. I will reweld them tomorrow with more power. i have tons of springs hanging around so i might as well use them. Thanks guys

The concern guys were having with spring steel to mild steel is with welding the spring eyelets onto the mild steel links. The metallurgy of the two types of steel don't normally get along very well, and you'll likely see a failure in those weld joints.

As mentioned above, more heat, & take your time! Welding is not a race :)

got it. well maybe I can brace the eyelets somehow. I will get creative. Is this enough heat and does it looks like a decent weld as far as strength goes? The trouble is my mig cant weld hot enough so I will have to bring out the big guns... the ARC! i have only used it once but its worth a try. its a 220 AC/DC

That weld doesn't look so bad, but the ones on the axle tube need to be re-done. Don't worry about burning through the axle tube, it is quite thick

ok will do. il post pics of the reweld tonight and you guys can tell me what you think

i didnt get time to reweld the axles today but i did finish welding the eyelits with some extra supports. so they should be a little stronger. I also got the rear brakes done

Small note on your welds again. Go to the Miller web site and search the instructional videos for welding instructions. They are worth watching. Your welds will fail in time. They look cold and lack penetration.

I hope this does not come off the wrong way. I just want to see you succeed and enjoy your hobby. Nothing sucks more than failure in the field.

little welding pic for ya...
