Hope it works out. Don't be surprised when he shows up like its a craigslist deal, to look the car over, and make a final decision.

Don't tell him this if he doesn't know it, but ebay motors is NOT legally binding, and he can bail if he wants....

Thats pretty much what im predicting... I have the notion that if he is impossible to handle that i will offer him enough off ti mewt my bottom line. But thats only if he throws a fit.

For eBay deals, let him know he gets your address once payment has been made. It's that simple.

Remember, follow the eBay rules. Once you step outside of your requirements and their rules, then all bets are off. He could probably say you broke the rules and get his deposit back if you're foolish enough to let him!

You're welcome.

I learned that lesson the hard way many years ago. Now I don't let people fool me like that. :)

Well then, at this point, i think its safe to say that the dude is bailing. Two and a hlaf hours to go and still no deposit... Oh well. I think im going to Craigslist it for a week or two before i put it back up on ebay.

Bummer...

Getting ready to put mine on there. I do have someone interested but not in stone yet.

Try it once more, but start at $100 and do no reserve. List locally too, just be sure you state that in your eBay ad.

With summer starting ... I can't imagine you'll get less than $3200 on eBay.

Also, report the deadbeat to eBay IF he has passed the requirements for eBay, which may be several days. You never know, he may have to transfer money to his account and that can take some time! When in doubt, email him (through eBay!) and politely ask what is going on and how you can help.

I just cant do it! The problem is that if for some reason it doesnt make it high enough i will have to end the auction and then i could get negative feedback and still have to pay the successful listing fee. I know that is the most logical thing to do but i just cant bring myself to do it.

I have e mailed him through ebay twice asking him whats up. I was polite about it. Just asked him if he was going to be able to follow through with the purchase or not. I will report him as deadbeat. The 48 hours has now passed but i cant start a conflict resolution thing for another 48 hours.

Looks like a no go.

Yea i did hoping that he would just come out with it and say "nope i cant buy it. sorry" So that i could move on. Anyway, I got another guy interested here locally now that its on CL. We'll see how that goes.

Personally, for Craigslist I post only 4 photos, not more. It's different than eBay. On eBay, you want people to see everything, because it's unlikely they will see it in person. On CL, you want to post just a few photos, to get someone interested enough to call you. That way you can "sell" them on the truck over the phone, and get them to come over to see it in person. With only 4 photos, the real truck will (should) exceed their expectations, and they'll want to buy it quick before someone else does.

If you could get that out to VA, that would be a $5k to $6k truck, what with zero rust.

Good luck either way!

I am a HORRIBLE salesman... I will rattle off everything i can think of to nit pick about a vehicle im selling. Guess i dont want them to regret their purchase the way i have in the past. About it being a 5-6k truck, i know! Thats why i figured around the $3500 price point that someone could buy it and ship it for about 5k. That was kinda my goal was to provide someone in the rust belt with a "perfect" truck. Anyway... Its hard to remember im in no rush to sell but i want paint on the burb damnit! :haha:

There is nothing wrong with that ... except that I prefer to hit a few major points. If they have questions, answer them briefly and then shut up. Most people will sell themselves as long as you don't act shifty and like you're trying to cover something up.

FWIW, I shipped my K5 from CA to VA and it only cost $1k. You should list it on AutoTrader.com to reach a larger market, do the "run till sold" ad (trust me!)

I can't believe you can't get $3200 local and somebody pick it up and be done with it....
