My build-DOWN thread...

I maintain the with enough research and preparation you could get it done in two weekends. In an older, pre efi truck, I could easily do the swap in a weekend. Having our trucks be originally equipped with fuel injection and trying to do the swap super clean takes the time.

I love your suburban man, so clean and innocent looking. Did you say that it used to be lifted?

Very nice truck man! I've got to sit down and read through the thread better one rainy day.

Looks great! So glad you stayed with the original color, very, very sharp. :waytogo:

Thanks dudes! Yea I think in post #1 of this thread there is a pic or two of it lifted. 4" and 36s. Then I realized I was beating up my childhood dream truck and decidedit was time to stop. TThat's when I got my 78 suburban so I could beat it up instead of the 90.

Today was a good progress day! Finally got a temp sender for the gauge so I can know how hot it's running without reading the computers sensor. Replaced my radiator heater hose cap with a plug (not as clean but much more secure), put the stereo in, and finally drilled the rest of the holes for the aux battery tray. Wasn't a fuzy feeling when I would hitbumps knowing the battery was only asupposed by two bolts in the fender sheet metal. Now it's solid!

Here is the old cap that cracked out hard in only a year.

And the new setup. It's a brass pex plug from Lowe's.

Also, I have been driving it every day since Friday. Runs great and goes down the roadpretty good! Has one really warped rrotor! It's bad! And initially it seemed to have a frozen caliper but I think it freed up. At some point this summer it's goingto get a full frontt brake job.

Put about 60 miles on it today. And I'll tell you what, it wasn't enough! On myway home I aalmost just kept driving. Really loving that 5.3. So smooth.

That's awesome man, I've only got about 60mi on mine but I know the feeling, smooth and powerful.

I had the exact same BS plug and did the same fix :thumb:

I had one of those type caps on my steering reservoir and it never made it out of the driveway.

Good motivation for the rest of us to see your 'burb come out so nice and clean. Great job!

I dont trust those rubber "caps",they aren't made of good rubber,no cords in them and they split & crack like that and fail in no time..I trust a hunk of heater hose and a bolt shoved in it a lot more, even if its not as pretty!..
I've seen some nice engines ruined because one of those caps failed and they overheated...

Geeze. I didnt realize how much work i have really done to this thing over the past few years.
