My build-DOWN thread...

Finally read through this thread. Nice work! :waytogo:

Could you post some pictures of the front wheel wells? As referenced in Muddysub's thread, I'm interested to see how much clearance the 285/75R16 tires have on stock springs.

Interesting that you're aiming for a road trip next summer. I'm doing the same thing with my Suburban (and considering hitting up Moab again). Maybe we'll cross paths!

For tire clearance, there basically isn't any! It rubs on the passenger side pulling into driveways. That would be cool to cross paths!

What do you mean by 4x10?

Oh. I'm both surprised and unsurprised at the same time.:haha: Surprised that you're living with the potential abuse that may happen (that would drive me crazy! :doah:). But unsurprised as that's what I figured would happen after looking at mine.

I'll keep ya posted. You're still aiming for BB15, right? We may or may not wait that long to do our trip (the summer is pretty much over for us by that point. This year, BB has been over for just a few days, and I was scraping frost off my windshield yesterday morning).

What do you mean by 4x10?

The rear speakers in Suburbans (aft of the C pillar) are 4" x 10" in size. If you replace those you should have new speakers all around. Some folks replace their speakers with 6x9 speakers due to greater availability. Mine are still working, so I'm not planning to touch them in the near future.

Ah yes. I already have 6x9s in place of the 4x10s. As far as the road trip, I'm hoping to wait and do it in line with bb. But I don't know for certain that I will be able to wait that long! It would be nice to have a vacation in the spring time! So we'll see. Life will determine the exact travel dates.

So this is the passenger side rear of the front fender with the tires turned i guess about 30*. You can see, it gives the fender a little kiss some times.

This is the front of the driver fender with the tires turned the same amount. Still close but doesnt rub.

No plans. It really just kisses it enough to make noise. It's done since I bought these tires years ago.

Finally getting around to the front brakes! One rotor was crazy warped and the other was going to be right at the low limit after turning so I just got two new rotors. Doing pads, seals, and re packing the bearings along with new u joints in the axle shafts.

My cleaning station. Makes it super easy to just let the nasty drip through the expanded metal and into my drip pan!

Also, i found some old posts of mine with some old pics. So i thought id share them.

4" and 36x12.5-16 Super Swamper TSL radials. On ford wheels. Did have per near perfect stance.

Here's a couple from when my dad wrecked it in i think '92. Some broad ran a stop sign and he wiped her out. Said her car was plumb totaled and had to get towed while he drove the burb home and then to the body shop.

Sure did. Sat down at the dealer, checked the boxes, and it was delivered a few weeks later. He ordered it with the bench seat cause i was only 3 years old when he bought it.
