Well I guess I should start posting on this side of the board. I got tired of my blazer so I decided to drop a 70 cab onto the blazer frame and running gear. Its going to have the front sheetmetal but its going to be tapered 7 inches on each side. The cab is getting the 79 blazer tilt column, wiring harness, and hydroboost setup. Going to graft that part of the firewall onto the 70 cab.
Heres a few pics of the progress over the weekend.

Heres a pic of it sitting on the frame. No body mounts are installed in this picture. I do now have the front 2 bolted onto the frame. I need to figure out the rear ones as the bolts are only 1/2" from the side of the frame.

Tube bed much like crwln73's current one. Maybe skin it, maybe not. I dunno havnt made up my mind.

Ok all four body mounts are done for the most part. I need to weld up the rear ones where I added some 3/16" metal since I had to move the hole 1.25" out from the stock ones.

I also started on the firewall/steering column/brakebooster. In talking the swap over with my buddy Kevin, he had mentioned grafting the blazer firewall onto the cab. Looking at the two I decided to drill out the spot welds on the steering column/brakebooster brace that was on the blazer tub. There are a good 15 spot welds that I had to drill out. I plan on just respot welding it onto the cabs firewall.
Here it is all mocked up. I need to find the piece that goes under that dash to hold the column up.

i havent started mine yet im gonna wait and see if the body is gonna hold long story

I got some lights mounted in my garage so that I can work at night. :D Progress has been slow mostly due to being lazy. Saturday I spent a few hours cutting up the bed that was on the truck that I got the cab from. Going to use the bed sides to skin the tube bed. Sunday was spent riding shotgun in my buddys sammi. I did manage to get my 203 torn apart. I guess I am going to go with a doubler. I just need to figure out if I can fork over the money for a doubler kit or if Im going to try and fab my own.

Radiator Support

If you are not going to use the radiator support mount from the front clip I would be willing to buy it from you, Mine is pretty thin from all the years of battery acid dripping on it. Those rivets are pretty hard to get out so maybe you could just torch the frame rail

Nice work so far on your project, enjoy following your progress. Later J.

The ones currently on the blazer frame are also supporting the spring hangers.

The ones from the frame that donated the cab are gone as I cut up the frame and tossed it 2 weeks ago.

Ok finally a decent update. Got the brake booster mounted up yesterday. Also got the harness mounted and the bulkhead througth the firewall.

Today Im playing with the hood. So far I think I have about 3 hours into the one side of the hood. :eek1: Cutting takes forever. Iv been using a pneumatic cut off wheel. I think im going to try the sawzall on the other side.
