My build up79 blazer to a 70 cab

I did not realize (guess I could have just read the title of this tread, but apparently I am not that observant... oops) that the frame was the newer body style... I thought that you were taking a 1st gen blazer and making it a 1st gen truck. Now I understand.

Truck looks GREAT

Got the shifters modded and done. Since this tranny is a good 2-3" shorter then the th400 It moved the shifters into the dash. I had to heat them up and bend them back and to the driver a bit more. Then I cut 3" off of them and mounted some bling bling that I got at the swap meet this last week. I had been looking for shift knobs for the past year about, I didnt want to pay that much for them. I got all 3 of these for $23. :saweet:

Going down. You can see a weld on the bend on the outside tube, the inside one doesnt have that. They are only heavly tacked to the body to keep them up while I weld the rest of it.

Going under, I call this the passanger heater.

Shot of the cell. The crappy-ghetto return line will be gone once my fitting shows up.

how low does your crossmember hang below your frame and what your belly height?

At what part of the frame? If you look at this picture you can see that it sits about as low as the back part of the front spring. At that point I would guess 2-3" but you can also see how the frame isnt straight. I have not measured yet but can once I have it back on the ground once i fill one of the tires back up.

Had to move the battery back upfront as I didnt want to deal with wireing all the way to the back this time around.

WOW:eek1:

What a project. You definately have some fab skills. That was a fun thread to look at.

Back from a weekend wheeling trip. My truck no breakie. Well atleast not till it got on the trailer. Then it was brought to my attention that the frame is cracked around the steering box. :uh oh: Whatever it didnt stop me all weekend so that is nice. One of the fans decided that it didnt want to work anymore and shorted itself out. It was the one that I cut into last year with my water pump, so not surprised about that at all. Even with one fan the truck ran at 180-190 the whole weekend. It would be on the warmer side driving to the trails. Running trap today I think I was averaging about 160 cuz we were stopping so much waiting for others to catch up. There are a few things I need to address, most of which is body trimming.

Heres how much clearance I had with the tires and the water pipes. BTW the floor never got hot that I noticed.

Day one going through squeeze rock, I didnt mess up the cab at all. Day 2 is a different story. Its going to take some work to get doors on it.

Heavnly.

End of day one. I got talked into trying the mud pit.
DSCN2379.JPG

One spot that needs some trimming. On the other side the slider ate the swamper and spit it back out. Its missing a lug or 2 now.

sweet pics, looks like fun. Are you going to just do some more trimming or is it going to have to be a little more major than that? What springs and lift are you running again?

52s up front 63s in the back. Right now its sitting lower in the back then in the front. Had I not made my own front mount for the front springs it would be even, but I wanted more around a 6 inch lift. So Im thinking about blocks/zero rates in the back to give me some more room. That would help with most of the trimming issues. But the slider needs to be trimmed an inch or 2 in the back and 4-5 in the front. And the body to follow.

Ummm its pooing on my garage. I havnt had a chance to clean the mud off. Once I get the mud off Ill start fixing the frame where the steering box cracked it. Should of fixed that before hand. :doah: Im just waiting on crewcabroller for some video.

Well I need something to look at while at work.

Still need to add windshield bars and 2 roof bars.

I like how this turned out. I wasnt sure at first but after some hard beating with the sledge it worked out.

hmm so maybe I should update this. haha.
Cage is for the most part done. Bedsides are back on.

You can also see that I had to rebuild the 60 due to some water getting in there and killing some wheel bearings. Also tossed in a detroit. Its been together for atleast 2 months and I have yet to take it out. Plan on having it at blazerfest in 2 weeks and then the cone a month later.
Ruffstuff diff cover.

Also built a rear winch bumper for an 8274. I have one for it but it needs a new motor before it gets mounted. Also added a box for crap, and a bit of creativeness with some old ubolts for spare driveshaft mounts.

And thats pretty much how it sits now. :D

I like it.

Can't decide if I wanna exo mine....

My K5 has AC that still works, but it's useless since I flipped it. Think I could get it into the '70?
