I have partial build threads everywhere, going to try and get them lined up correctly here.

Starting with how I got it in 06. 87k5, 350, 700r4, NP208, 355 10 bolts, gov lock. Silverado trim. PO had done a lot of refresh inside. 2" springs and blocks in the rear on 33s. Was my daily driver.

Then I met Golabs, SarasotaUSMC, and ClarkJW24 ing Aug 07, and did some of this.

and decided to go bigger.

Some time during this summer, my wife got tired of helping me take the top off, so I built this while I was building her a deck.

Got a Warn 8200 from a local member. Unfortunately, the mount was for something else.

No, winch control, so I picked up a dual battery and in cab winch control from 12voltguy.com

While looking for a front bumper, I found a DPI rear and tire carrier.

Cleaned them up, primed, and added some Gravitex before painting them.

I didn't have a fuel tank skid plate, but around this time got one and gave it the same treatment.

Skid went in.

Then I figured out the bumper was set up for a 1" body lift. I wasn't going to go on with out cutting. This began the reconstruction of my truck.

Cant believe I just did that.

And rear tire carrier.

Should have listened to Gotlabs and done some front trimming too, but paid for it on the trail and had to unleash the trunk monkey when the tire got into the fender and they got all jammed up. Luckily it didn't slice my tire open, but the fender paid the price.

A flex pic from earlier that weekend. Swaybar was ong gone at this point.

May 08. Came across a new set of 4.10s....but they were for a 10 and 12 bolt. Local junkyard did $40 for whaever you could carry across the scale. Gotlabs and I spent a Saturday pulling a 12bolt and all the spare parts we could fit in a couple of seabags and under our arms.

So we welded up the 12 bolt :haha:, set up the 4.10s, put a lock rite in the front and went out for a test.

And promptly twisted the splines off the front drive shaft.:whistle:The first of problems with locked half tons and 35s.:dunno:

My wife had painted up my diff cover for me.

Swapped in a 140 Amp alt I had picked up at the yard.

Also picked up rear cage from member Bushwhacker.

Posing

Also snagged up a soft top!

We're at May of 08. I drive 4 hours to wheel and camp at URE with the wife, kids, and dog. Rear diff lets go in McDonalds parking lot 5 miles from camp ground. Limped it to the campground, but on the way, the spiders grenade through the cover. Some how made it to the the camp ground in frontwheel drive without the rear shafts walking out. Make a late night phone call and the morning crew finds me a diff cover and spiders before they head up to meet us.

The dog helping with repairs.

Didn't do any wheeling all weekend. On the drive home, with a NOISY rear end, it started blowing smoke. Pulled in to a gas station, and discovered the power steering belt had slapped a bunch of pin holes in my oil cooler lines. duct tape and hose clamps and we made it home with out further issues. Except I had a plan brewing the whole ride.

3/4 ton, external hub 44 and 14 bolt.

and this showed up

late night getting the winch wired in.

Found this for $1200 and decided to skip the 3/4 and go for the tons.

So with Gotlabs' help, I picked up this non running M1008

It was christened as the Yard Gnome.

Had to make room in the yard for the part out, so the K20 frame and 1/2 ton axle colllection went to to scrap.

Did some prep work on the 14 b

Painted them up.

Did my ORD weld in frame brace....or Tim did the welding.

And we rolled the tons under the truck.

This is December 08. Jan 09 I left for Iraq for a year. I left the truck at John's house to tie in a full cage and seats while I was gone.

But my trip got short and I was back in Aug. Here's it is with 56's, 1" body lift, and new body bushings!

Cage down and in....although I don't think we tied it to the frame yet in these pics.

First, had to throw a lock rite in the 60!

and some Warn Premium lockouts.

Then even more parts started showing up!

New shackles in, got rid of my saggy butt, and from the looks of this pic, the cage is tied to the frame now.

That project led to 7 stiches in my eye brow from not paying attention to the hi-lift. I also have a tow rig at this point.:woot:

Found some 39.5-15-16.5s on craigslist for cheap.

More trimming needed.

Got some recentered H1s

and hydro assist.

The Solid Diff Cover for my 14b was on bak order and finally showed up.

Also picked up some DPI sliders used from another member.

Made the move from NC to CA about this time.

Found an 8274 to replace my old winch.

Newer winch and lights for desert driving!

Doors came off.

Bushwhacker had built some tube doors I picked up from him before leaving the east coast.

This is how it's looking right now. Jun 12. Imagine a bunch of LEDs under and in it. lol

I'll be here until at least next Jul/Aug.

'm down to run Ocotillo Wells once it cools down again, let me know. Wife and I will be in Palm Springs on Saturday Morning for some shopping, we head down the hill couple of times a month.

Nice truck, I wish my build went something like that. My build thread would consist of monthly pics of more dust collecting...
