I've been trolling Craigslist for a while looking for a new project to work on when I ran across a 1992 Chevy Scottsdale short wheel base, regular cab, 4x4, 350, with a 5 speed manual transmission. The drivers door is sagging and needs to be realigned also. The drivers door has some minor damage, but I can live that. The guy wanted $2,000, but I talked him down to $1,200. I still can't believe I got the truck for so cheap. It does need some work though. The front driver's side fender needs to be replaced, it needs a front wheel alignment, a new seat cover, and the transmission probably needs new seals and bearings (transmission make an awful rattle & humming noise). Other than that, it's a great running truck.

Nice, my buddy used to have a 1990 pickup like that one except it was 2 wheel drive and had the v6 and 5 speed. There good trucks. His had like 375000 miles on it and was still running like a top.

It looks like that driver side took a good smack to it. Is it me or does the driver side photo look like there's something askew with the bed in relation to the cab? Kinda like the top of the bed is in farther than the bottom of it.

Anyway, it looks like a fun little truck. :waytogo:

Looks like the frame could be bent from the photo. Could also just be lens distortion.

The drivers door is sagging really bad, and it does make it look like the cab doesn't line up with the bed. I'm pretty sure the frame is straight.

Sounds like a great project:waytogo:

I passed on an almost identical truck a couple years ago, and have been beating myself up ever since. 350, 5 speed, 4x4, and SWB. Perfection sir.

The door sag is probably just bad bushings.

Buy the little spring compressor, and its a pretty easy fix.

I need to take the transmission out and look into a rebuild kit. The only numbers I can find on the trans is GM8679098. After a quick Google search, I'm not real sure what this transmission is. Do any of you guys recognize this number?

Nice score. Looks like it needs a fair amount of attention, but all in all a good truck. Good that it doesn't have a 305 either.

I've started taking off the fender and driver's door so I can replace them both. After I took the door off, I noticed the door spring was missing and the spring pin was broken in half. From the looks of the pin, I can't tell how to remove it and put a new one in. Does anyone have experience replacing this spring pin? The second pictures shows the missing spring and half missing pin. The bottom picture shows how it's supposed to look with the spring (but that one is broken too).
