I was wondering if you could do me a huge favor.. if you can't it's no problem though..

My grandparents lived in Ione washington and they passed away about 15 years ago.. I used to live in Spokane and go up to Ione quite often when I was a little kid.

My grandfather built a home on the river.. I used to dream about buying it when I was younger. So, I wonder if it is still there and if anyone lives in it.

I was wondering, If it would be possible, if you have a digital camera or access to one, could you go by there and take a picture of the lot? I need to try to find the street address though. It used to be the last house on the end of the East end of Riverside avenue I believe.. the house was directly across from a park area across the river.

I live in San Diego now so it is difficult for me to get up there.

or option e; wait for my cross continental trip and i will bring misc gm stuff to replentich driveway stuffage ;) :D lol not that its anytime soon though. and trailer space at that point will more than likely consist of a hot rod, 4x4 or sports car anyway. maybe two of some sort of combo if i get a trailer big enough lol seriously though, clean it all up now while you have the chance and look for hidden treaseurs!!! arrrrr matey!! ;) we needa pirate smiley lol id so love that

may i suggest a roadtrip to spice up yer life? :D don't mind the deranged pirate talking... i have a soft spot in my heart for the open road which i always miss.

I'm trying to place it based on the description. Was it Ione or Metaline that you remember?

Here are some general maps.

It should be Ione..

As I remember it.. you would go up that highway from Spokane and then just before you got to my grandparents street there was the small Ione airport on the left of the highway.. and then just past my grandparents street was a bridge that went over part of the river to the town of Ione. Maybe it wasn't a bridge.. but just a raised part of the highway with water on either side...

But to get to my grandparents house, right before the bridge into Ione you would go right and my grandparents house was on the left side of that road. When you walked from their house to the bank of the river and looked out you could see straight down the river which would be North towards Canada I believe. And just across and to the left from my grandparents house.. across the river bend there was a little park there and they had boat races there in the summer.

My grandparents house was single story.. it was white and yellow in those days.. and had a greenhouse built onto it.. and a big rock raised patio that faced toward the river.

On that road to their house there were a few houses on the left before you got to his house..

There was also a big, almost perfectly round, area of trees that hadn't been cleared next to his house which would be on the left if looking at the house form the street.

may i suggest a roadtrip to spice up yer life? don't mind the deranged pirate talking... i have a soft spot in my heart for the open road which i always miss.

If I could get my Blazer running right I'd go for it. :D

Ok, now I know exactly where it is. They put a restaurant and small motel there on the river, so the house is probably just east of the motel now based on that description.

I think it should be here.. if it is still around...

Mountainexplorer, how long have you lived in Ione? Do you have any family that as lived there long?

I've haven't lived in Ione, but the property up there (basically 1 mile up Cedar Creek Road) has been in my family since about 1912 or 1915. Probably the person of my family that was most well known up there was my uncle, Eddie Lundberg, who worked at the grocery store most of his life, and lived there up until the mid-80's. He was born about 1912 in Ione. I'm his nephew... but I'm the "young" one of the family. All my cousins, including my half brother and sister are in their 50's and 60's, where as I'm 24.

I bet your uncle knew my granparents..

My Grandparent's names were Herman and Rose. They lived there at least from the 50s. I think my grandfather was a foreman at a logging mill.

My dad worked at the sawmill in Ione, but that was a long while back... like the '30's. But my uncle was there pretty much most of his life. I'll have to ask my brother and see if that last name rings a bell.

Did your half brother and sister ever live in Ione? Because they are close to my dad's age and his brothers and sisters.

In the '50s and '60s, my dad lived with his first wife and my half brother and sister in Bremerton, when he worked at the shipyards there. My uncle that lived in Ione never had children, and all the other brothers and sisters of the original Lundbergs born in Ione I think were all moved away by the '50s.

There were friends of the family though, that still live there now. Do any of the last names Reilly, Redinger, Pearson, or Linder seem familiar?

My brother Ron lives in Ione now, next to the family property. But he's only lived there since '96. He does know alot of the local natives though.

This is what our property looks like:

I was so young when I would visit Ione I don't know any of the people that lived there other than my grandparents.

I'm 32 now.. and used to go up there on holidays until I was about 10 years old. Then moved to Southern California and only visited Ione for a couple days when I was 14.

you can buy all my stuff....lots of it is right up your alley....d60f's and stuff

but its in NM.....should fill it up rather nice

I voted clean it up. Since this is your parents house (right?) I would keep it fairly clean for them and when you have your own place then you can pile the rigs in there Alan-style
