My FAST EFI / fuel injection mod thread

Just to paste and copy what Phil said in a PM to me

"The base TACH wire on the Pro Billet MSD is going to be the cleaner of the two TACH outputs."

So I will keep my TACH gauge plugged into the top port and plug my FAST TACH input, with "filter", into the TACH wire at the bottom of the rotor body.

couldn't find any adapter fittings for the fuel system to work with the FAST EFI fittings. I couldn't buy what I needed either. So....junkyard I went. Picked up some female fittings for the fuel pump side of things. Also grabbed some male fittings for the fuel filter. I kept some of the hardlines/flexlines because I'm not sure if those will be needed during "adaption" to the FAST EFI equipment. Still working on the details.

Also, the fittings from PS lines are not the same. I tried, but they did not seem to seat the same, like the threaded portion of the fitting isn't long enough to seat the flair. Not sure.

I think Russel makes the fittings you need. Also, I wouldn't use the factory filter, I would use the one that came with the fast kit that has a reusable mesh filter element that connects to the AN lines.

As for the fittings, I am not 100% sure, but I htink this might be the one you need, measure your thread diameter...

If that's not it, there is a 16 mm as well, go down about 1/3 of the way where it says "o-ring adaptor fittings" here... (if you go down about 3/4 of the way there is TBI adaptor fittings, but those are male threads to go into your old throttle body.) They look to be the same o-ring metric thread.

I didn't get a filter with the kit. Not sure if that went with the fuel pump or not, but that was one thing I asked them to take out of the kit for a credit. I like the idea of using a factory filter, since I can walk down to XYZauto and grab one easy.

I went to a couple speedshops and an industrial hose maker, nobody could help me. Even looking through catalogs while in the speedshop. Ugg

I'll have to look over these fittings on Summit. Is the total diameter of the thread the correct size? Or is it the diameter "down between the threads" that is correct?

But there is no need to go grab one if you can just take it out, clean it with carb cleaner, and put it back together. But if you like the stock one, it's your truck.

As for the thread diameter, if it's an external thread (male thread) you measure the outer part of the threads yes. It will probably measure slightly under the correct size.

Also, I accidentally linked the same link twice, this is what I meant for the second one...

640820 is 14mm, 640830 is 16mm

are these AN fittings from FAST 6AN?? I bought an OEM filter but figuring out how the hose and fittings are going to work is difficult. Taking Folkenheath's advice and getting an aftermarket reusable filter. Also buying the fittings he linked me to.

Just want to double check, they are 6 AN right.

Also, go the engine in a while ago and dropped the gas tank. Got my shackle flip done so now I can get the tank back up. Just need fittings and hose. Will need more fittings from FAST to complete. The kit only came with 4 fittings, enough for the basic of basic installs.

I haven't read the whole thread, but are you trying to go from the stock sending unit fittings to AN fittings?

When I swapped to TPI I did that and ran stainless flex hose from the tank all the way to the fuel rail and back. If you want I can take pictures of the fittings at the sending unit that convert from the stock o-ring type to the AN fitting.

I don't remember where I got the fittings from. When I ordered my harness and a few other things I ordered them from Street and Performance and asked them about them when I called and they directed me to someone else.

O-RING ADAPTER FITTINGS

DESCRIPTION BLUE

M14 x 1.5 to -6 Flare 640820
M16 x 1.5 to -6 Flare 640830

*Ford, Chrysler, and early Chevy pumps with 1/2"-20 inverted flare thread.

I'm sure you're aware that AN flares are 37" instead of 45".

I'm sure you're aware that AN flares are 37" instead of 45".

I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sure you meant to say 45* (degrees) Even then, I don't understand. I am looking to order the 14mm and 16mm fittings, for supply and return, from summit. I hope these work for my sending unit, and for the FAST supplied AN fittings.

Some updates

Here are the parts I used.

6 AN adapters for the fuel sending unit
EAR-9894DBJERL = 16mm fitting for the supply line
RUS-640820 = 14mm fitting for return line
SUM-230102 = cleanable fuel filter with 6AN ends

O2 sensor bung welded in my Y pipe. I didn't want BOTH banks going across the sensor because one bank will have my air injection connected to it. Rather not mess with any readings.

Here is a shot of the throttle body with the 1" spacer. There is a sensor on the TB that wants the space where my vacuum fitting is. If I run my brake booster line to the TB, that would be fine, but I still wont be able to run my vacuum "tree" to the manifold.

I may have to put my brake line back on the TB and remove the spacer. The spacer really screws up my linkages.

That setup is looking perfect!

You are correct that the air injection would mess up the 02 feedback to the self learning EFI. In fact I would do a test at lower RPM and see if the inj pulse width and/or 02 correction changed with the AIR pump running or not.

The spacer really screws up my linkages.
Can't you just raise the linkage bracket 1" :dunno::dunno:

[QUOTEI'm sure you're aware that AN flares are 37" instead of 45".[/QUOTE]

you meant 37° and 45° right ???

I successfully built spacers from some square tube cut at 1" and used longer bolts to line mine up.......I also just took it down to the transmission shop and they made a small adjustment for the TV Cable down at the transmission to ensure everything shifted correctly.

anybody with a FAST set up, can you get a nice shot of your linkage? There are so many holes but they are all HUGE!! Not sure where to mount, or how to mount, the throttle cable. Still haven't had any time to look over lifting the bracket/ or removing the spacer.
