my future 71 chevy show boat/mall crawler

Here is a picture of my garage queen/poser in Moab on poison spider.

It currently has a 454, t400, 205 but will soon be changed to a 700r4 205. The big block will probably get injection as well. I'm building a new rear axle for it right now. I haven't driven it for at least 2 years, the Blaze has taken all of my time money and interest for the last three years.

That is a beautiful truck! As I said before the 67-72 chevys are defiantly my favorite trucks ever. My absolute favorite would be a stepside shorty, but sadly they didn't come with all the glorious trim and 2 tone paint a fleet side cheyanne super did. Also it has been next to impossible for me to find a short bed in good condition, what wasn't over priced for me. I suppose I could shorten a long bed but I like the long beds too so it isn't necessary.

I am pretty set on a dark metallic blue with a pearl white 2 tone similar to the truck I posted in the first. Its going to be a mild custom rather than factory original but the mods will be small. Just about every chrome part LMC sells will probably make its way to my truck. As well as the bow tie embossed front bed wall, a wood floor, and other small tricks.

This will be a long expensive build, and it will wait until the 4 door is closer to done. I am exited for it and just wanted to wet your appetite.

By the way I anyone thinks I was harsh to atho check out his member status. I don't feel he has an opinion with out the $25 hall pass.

It's your rig, do what YOU like. When it's done you are the only one that has to be satisfied.

I love the 67 to 72's and your build ideas sound good to me. But then I could be slightly biased.

I like chrome and functionality. Whether its got 20 inches of lift or slammed there are things on em that I can learn from and admire.

What do you guys think? Do I loose credit for wanting to build a truck more for show than go? Any mods you would suggest, body, drive train, or otherwise? Come to think of it, the suspension could use more than a bolt on lift as the short springs don't ride very smooth with 6" lift.
this is not a 4x4 specific site, afaik, but a website/forum/blog for those that love GM trucks of all kinds. it just happens to be that many here like 4x4ing too, and take it to the extreme. i love the 73-91 body style gm, and my blazer is going to be a multitasking, capable machine. however you do yours is up to you. and my $0.02, no chrome nerf bars, just straight chrome bumpers look best on those. happy wrenching!

Looks a little like one I recently had.

Mine was sporting a warmed up 396 though. :D

Opinions where welcomed at the beginning of this thread, but I should have known there would be a prick in the bunch.
Now I can see some people will have stronger opinions than others, thats fine, but try to have just a bit of class in your responses. I know its hard for a knuckle draggin, mouth breather, who's family tree only forks once, to understand. Do your history dude, the 70's was basically the beginning of customizing 4x4 trucks and almost all of them where more show than go.

Blame it on the lack of tech and the fact that civilian 4x4's where fairly new.
Think I'm wrong? Just research monster truck history. The original big foot, was far lower class 4x4 than a lot of examples on here.

The plain and simple of the whole thing is, most of us grew up loving flashy show trucks, like big foot. For me its nostalgia, a link to my childhood, and my idea of the perfect truck. My Cadillac if you will.

Your opinion has been noted Mr Atho, but your dead wrong. It IS period correct and defiantly not gay as its the roots of what this whole web site is about. Custom trucks built by the owners, to be what the owner wants.

If you think its not hardcore enough for you, go check out my crew cab build. Granted its not going to be the most hardcore rig on this site, but its what I want to build, just like my 71 will be.
Your reply is just as unwarranted as his. Just don't reply. It becomes Rooster call. Lot's of noise, scratching in the dirt; little d**k.
