Okay I am pretty new to the forum. I thought I would start a thread so I could ask all of my stupid questions in one place, instead of making a lot of different post with stupid questions. I have posted a few threads over the last year. I haven't contributed much mainly because I am still learning myself. I have read a lot of post though. I like working on things and I have a lot of broken stuff to prove it. As it stands now I have 4 blazers, 3 work and drive and one is a parts truck (has saved me a lot). I also am working on a formula 233, which occupies most of my time and I have to get it done before I really start on the trucks. Do mostly moderate driving, nor really a trail freak. Anyhow here is the start of my line-up.

This one here a one that I picked up for $400, Had to pull it from the woods, where it had been sitting for god knows how long. Came complete with snakes skins and rat nest. I was told it hadn't run in years because of a faulty starter. Turns out it was the lock cylinder, actually the plastic gear behind the cylinder. I put a push button switch on it and with some pre-start precautions, it started right up. I have since put it back to how it is suppose to be.

I will have to put the t-case from my parts tuck on it, and the dust covers are on order. I was going to sell it for my other projects but once I started it up my girlfriend laid claim to it. So it will probably be around for a while. It has a 350 with 2 barrel carb, PO said it was a motor from a boat he had. But it runs well.

Oh yeah I thought this was pretty cool. It looks either factory or dealer installed, I found a guy making a model on youtube and it has a sunroof but again it was a model.

Vid of it rolling, not to bad

I also got my 60 and 14ff for my blazer. I have been wanting to put them in but I am waiting to get my lift so I can do pinion angle and driveshaft once. I have been trying to sell the motor, hood and doors, but it is a tough market.

And here is my girlfriends camaro, she is like cars and truck as much as I do. Huge chevy fan, we bought this one wrecked drove it home and swapped the front clip from a donor car.

Hope the post hasn't been to long, I will post the other 2 blazers as sonn as I get some pics of them.

Cool stuff! So whats the plans? truck by truck.

Thanks I have 2 75's

The one pictured I am going to put another 203 in it, another hood and leave it alone.

The other 75 I have needs another transmission. I drove it to a friends house changed the brakes. When I started up to move it it was gone. So I am going to either get another th350 or rebuild one for the time being. This truck already has a 205 but I am thinking of using the 400 and 208 from the militray truck when I change the axles. I had an 85 with a 208 and it always worked well for me. I will also lift it about 6 inches and put some 35's or 37's on it. And hopefully a few other small thing like winch, tire carrier, ect.

The other I have is a 76, it's the trailering special model. I really like this one. I will probably spend a lot of time on this one once my boat is complete. I plan on redoing it to look new (or as close as I can) again. It has the 400sbc which is pretty cool. I have the original paper work where it was purchased in 76, the owner drove it for a while, parked it in a barn and left it for years. The truck showed 97,000 miles on the odometer when I got it and I think they were the correct miles for the truck. However he died and I bought it from his grandson, so I can't be sure. It still has the decals, factory trailer hitch, and a factory gas tank skid plate. It is has no rust except a little on the front fenders, which is really good for around here.

These are my current plans which are always subject to change at any moment.

its good to have your girl onboard with all the plans and also making plans for her own truck to go drive with you.its hard to find a chick that is into it as much as the guys these days.lets see them other trucks.lol

Agreed. Can't even tell you how great it has been, especially as we all get older and friends get married and start doing other things.

Okay here are some pics of my 76 blazer. I really likt the trailering special badging. The door panels show better in the pics that what they are, and the rust on the fender is really just surface rust. But in SC it is hard to find one in this godd of shape that is untouched. Most have floorboards or rockers that are gone. Truck is a little dusty but should clean up nice.

What chevys had 205s

Okay is it possible for a 76 auto to have a factory 350 with a fixed yoke. I thought the auto of these years had 203. Thanks.

Most auto rigs in that era had the TH350/203. Not sure, but I think fixed yoke was the order of the day. I'm kinda curious if the trailering special may have had the TH400/203 though? You should snap a pic of the tranny pan. If it's sorta shaped like Texas it's a TH400, square with a corner knocked off and it's a Th350.

Definitely a rare package for a K5. I can't say I've ever seen those badges...

My 71 had a fixed yoke 205 behind a TH350. Don't know about the 76 :dunno:

The Trailering Special badges are sweet.

The trans and t-case in the blazer is a 350/203. And that was factory. They do show this model in the 76 chevy brochure. I have seen a couple with the badges, but only on the internet. The trailering specials did have the 400 engine upgrade, along with a factory gas tank skid plate, and the towing mirrors. Notice the wieght on the badge is 9,000lb and is different for the suburbans.

I was asking because some guy tells me he has a transfer case with a fixed yoke from a 76 truck. He says it is partime, with a 205 shift pattern. I have seen 73's with this but not 76's. Just wanted to get some opinions before I drove 2hrs to buy this thing. Getting this guy to send pics is like pulling teeth.

stupid driveshaft question

Okay i know they make the front drivestaft with 2 cv joints to help with the angles, and I know they make the rear shaft with one cv joint to help with that as well, but would there be any advantage to having a rear shaft with 2 cv joints as well?
