Found this body and frame at the wrecking yard for $500. Got it registered without a problem. Body has been dovetailed front and rear. Has trani and a 203 in it which I wont be using.

Picked these up today

These have 4.56's gears which is good news so I wont have to buy a carrier for the 5.13's Im plan on running. Got the set for $1200 which I'm happy with.

My buddy is selling me his sm465/, 205, bell housing, and pedal assembly for $50 bucks :xmas: . I need to get a 203/sm465 adapter to run the doubler. I already have the 56" springs/hangers that I had planned on using on my other blazer build but Ill put them on this instead. Should go together pretty quick I would imagine.

The sm465 was fine in his truck, is there anything I might wanna do to it to freshen it up while I wait on other parts? I know nothing about the sm465 other than its almost indestructible.

cool guess you ended up buying the truck I saw it in another thread if im not mistaken. Good luck with it cant wait to see how it turns out.

Got the rearend housing shaved today

Took about an hour and three grinding discs. Easier than I thought. Make sure you pony up for the quality blades and not the HF ones is what I recommend. Oh and where a mask otherwise youll be blowin' dirt boogers for a day LOL

Found some cracks in the frame at the steering box...fixed em and ordered a repair kit. Decided to try the more radical 14 shave method. Pretty happy with the results. Not sure if I would do it againthough.... only because you really only gain about 1/4"-1/2" over grinding. I knew that going into it but I wanted some bragging rights :wink1:. Maybe 1/4-1/2" is a lot in the world of rock clearance...I dunno cuz' I've never been :D.

More frame repair

Found some carnage at the gas tank brackets and shock mounts in the frame. I'm not a welder and I just patch things as I see fit. My methods of repair may not be the methods of choice but it should get er' done.:D I'm not opposed to getting schooled if you take the time to give me your what for's.

Ordered about 75lbs of stuff from Kert today :haha:.....helpful as always!!!

ORD also offers a bolt on bracket that goes from the inside of the frame to the middle of the front crossmember.

I've often thought about getting a second plate kit and trimming it down to fit the inside of the frame to sandwich the area.

99 lbs of good ol american steel

Got these today.... gonna paint em' flat black. Hopefully get em' installed tomorrow. Then I'll have a rollin' chassis. Next I have to find some leaf spring bushings for a set of springs. On one end the eye measures 2" and the other eye measures 1 3/4". Dont know what they came off of but they are 56" with offset center pin.

Got the axles under it today

I now have a rollin' chassis. I still have to disassemble to clean parts up after I test fit everything though. I do need to get the 7.5" shackles though for the front rear hanger because Im to close to the frame with no weight. Right now as it sits Im @ 60 degs on all four corners. Engine to go in next month then I have to figure out which Tcase Ill be runnin. I'll be runnin' sm465 tranny.

I see you have two blazer tubs, but one frame? Is there another frame somewhere?

Yeah its in the garage. It goes under the green blazer. About two months ago I went to wrecking yard to get a set of 56" springs and came home with the blue blazer and the frame in the pic. I couldnt believe someone junked that blazer :doah:. Worked out perfect because I avoided going rock crawling for about 7-8 years because I didnt want to jack up the green blazer body. Then I said fook it and began the green blazer build for crawlin'. Then found blue blazer already dovetailed front and rear so I shifted gears and started that build. Im gonna start the green blazer build when Im done with the blue one. I plan on a big block build and sticking to sand/mud for that one. Here is a pic of the other frame...
