My Junkyard build......York mount made

Hey don't knock your welds look as or better then some stuff I have seen.

Make sure on your rear diff cover that the cover isn't the thing that hangs down the lowest mine was and when they meet a rock they tend to leak

Not on my home computer, mine isn't as shaves as yours, not as daring, I left about a quarter of the lower hole.

Hind sight being 20/20 I should have shaved as much as you did or nothing at all or just the lip.
Make sure if you can tap a hole out for the bottom bolt mine could really use one but I don't have enough material unless I use a really small one, which I might do.

I am going to have to weld two nuts to the inside bottom of the case. I have about 3/8 thickness so I dont/cant drill and tap it. Worse case senario is I crack the bottom of the case. Then I would have to do the ultimate shave job like I di to my other 14 bolt shown here.

Not very productive day...

I got the underside of the body cleaned and degreased via Wal-mart brand oven off and me ol' pressure washer. After the three hour drip dry cycle, I used a fan and blow gun to expedite the drying process . Then shot it with NAPA rubberized coating. To dark for the after pic but heres the before one.

Anyone know how to figure out what compression ratio I will end up with after my engine build? Cylinder Head, Performer, Aluminum, 60cc Chamber, 165cc Intake Runner, 202 valves, scat 383 crank 3.75, KB pistons 12cc, 5.7 con rods, Cam and Lifters, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 256/268, Lift .449/.456. If you can help figure it out I would appreciate it. I googled it but cant seem to figure it out. Thanks

It looks good, but a little difficult to see. How do you think it'll hold up?
Ill take some better pics of it.
Ive used it before on the inner wheel wellls of my green blazer and that was about 8 years ago and its still there. PREP is the key. I found that NAPA has the best rubberized undercoating. Ive used 3-4 different brands

Good to know. Sounds like something I will be doing as well. Any other prep you did besides wal mart easy off and water pressure? Tips, tricks?

Step 1: spray oven off (wear goggles) let sit for about 30 min
Step 2: use pressure washer to get grime off that was loosened by oven off
Step 3: use wire brush and putty knife remove any remaining grime
step 4: use clean rag and degreaser and wipe area down, let dry and apply undercoating.

thats what I did. The only thing I would do different is i would spray a second coat of oven off/then pressure wash a second time for step 4 instead of wiping down with degreaser. Only because Im lazy and it would have been easier.

BAD ASS! Looks good man. You got to be stoked with how it all worked out.

Thanks guys! Stoked is an understatement. This is the first 56" build Ive done and to tell you the truth it was pretty straight forward. I worried about it more than I should have. I still need to swap over to 7.25"or 7.5" shackles depending on final adjustment but thats no biggie. Im gonna take the engine to the machine shop tomorrow and start the build process. I bought a TPI closed loop system about 8 years ago and ran it for a year or so but wasnt happy with the HP so I packed it up and its been in storage ever since. Im gonna put it on this rig. I wanna airbrush the runners with some kinda flames or fire. I need to find a local guy who is a good artist.

How many leaves are you running on your front set of 56"ers?
