I have an 84 k5 and was wonderin gon some opinions. Its currently carbeurated and i was wondering if I could get some opinions. I'm thinking about either going TBI or EFI and was wondering what you guys think. I may get the TBI off a 91 suburban and if I get my fuel injection its probably coming off another vehilce that I havent yet found. Thanks ain advance.

whatever route you go get ALL of the parts you will need from the same vehicle. This will save you lots of time and money. If the tbi in the suburban is running good can you just pull the whole engine? TBI is pretty simple. If you want something better you could do TPI or a vortec swap ($$$$$$). What are you wanting to do with the engine and blazer?

Well I would pull the engine from the burb but it has 250k+ and mine only has like 30k :P And basically just want something where I can hit angles if I want and not have to worry about the thing dying. Like Ive said in some other posts I do OCCASIONALLY rock crawl but mostly Im just hitting back trails in AZ and seeing where they go.

Well if you do your research and plan out the tbi swap it is pretty easy, if you keep your block and heads make sure the cam you have is compatible with a computer. That is where people seem to run into the most problems. You will have to modify the intake manifold a bit to get it to bolt down on your engine or you can use an adapter and keep the manifold you have. Check out this link for good tbi swap info: http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47254

I would go the TBI rout from the '91. The systems are very simple, easy to maintain, and fairly bulletproof.

I would get the tbi, computer, and sensors off the 91 and get a wiring harness from Howell. You can get them to burn you a chip to that will delete things you don't need like the vss, egr, and knock sensor. You can do it with the stock harness but it is a pain.

if i was goin to switch to EFI i would go ahead and buy a MPFI. it will cost alittle more in the beggining but they are well worth it. i think holley makes a kit for it but idk how much it would be.

MPFI isn't the answer for all apps.. TBI does have advantages, including performance on the low end...

I think instead of doing MPFI you could probably do a 5.3 or 6.0 swap and net more power and torque. Im guessing you would spend more in the long run (others have said anywhere from $1500-$5000 depending on parts cost and how much you do yourself) but I would think you would be happier. Or at least thats my opinion :D

Or you could spend a few hundred bucks on a TBI setup and be set :pimp:

These aren't drag racers, why would MPFI be so important?

Yep thats what I did, except I got everything from different sources which was too time consuming and more money than necessary.

I'd run the TBI setup too, there simple and reliable and there's tons of trucks still running them out there including me and its perfect for what your looking for and fairly cheap

find a wrecked 93 pickup with a 6.5TD in it.... and grab that sucker out. TIDI injection is the way to go with these trucks. what can i say, i love TIDI's :)
