My K5's exterior is DONE.

I would suggest a black tuffy security console with the stereo slot option. Its a no-brainer IMO with these old trucks and especially if you're going to run a soft top. Keep your valuables out of harms way (ie., stereo deck, ipod, phone, cd's, removable steering wheel, kill switch, etc, etc.)

I have that Tuffy in my 71, works well.

Good looking blazer :waytogo:

Looks awesome bro! Love the color! :waytogo:

Those are some nice seats too! :pimp:

Tuffy looks like a good way to go console wise, especially if you plan on going topless often!

So Sick! Can you show picks of how you mounted the seats? Did you just weld the rails to the floorboard?
The C class has a hump in the floor, like a truck, compared to our K5's that have a flat floor pan. The first problem was that they sat too low, I felt like a midget trying to see over the steering wheel. Next was that they needed to be angled back, since I felt like I was going to slide forward. Again, the hump is angled back in a C class, just like the trucks.

So I made these brackets. The driver side was easy, I was able to use all of the existing holes in the floor. The passenger side used the goofy flip up spring loaded seat so I had to drill 3 new holes in the floor. My brackets raised the seats to the proper height, and angled them back slightly for a comfy feel.

Oh, someone asked where I got them, they had been on my local Craigslist for a while, guy wanted $500 for them, I waived $200 in his face and came home with them.:pimp:

That is a sweet K5. Paintjob looks perfect too. Well done man. I can't wait to be done mine.

Only reason I haven't got one yet is because I'm considering going with a split bench seat with heated leather hopefully.

EDIT: I'm a slow poster :doah:
I'm thinking this might be the console to go with.:thumb:

Looks great man! That bottom pic it looks like the rear boggers are comp cut cause only the big lugs are dirty. I was like whoa!:waytogo:
Yep, that is the way they wear when you run them on the road. Boggers are actually damn smooth surprisingly when they are new. That little lug wears so much faster and puts out the "thuds" when you go 5-10mph.

Rubber is definitely on my mind, I'd love to score a set of 16.5x12 or 17x12 Weld Outback rims on CL for cheap, then wrap them with a set of 35x14.50 SSRs. Another side of me says just buy another set of boggers, fresh boggers are smooth and I love the look of 14's. It all depends on what I run across on CL.

Yeah I have the 16.5x12 SS II's on my Crew Cab and I really like them, but Finding a tire wide enough in a 16.5 to wear decent while towing is almost impossible. I have a feeling when my SSR's wear out I'll be PMing you or Wes. That is unless I get a Cummins by then. In that case I'll just slap a set of the 35x14.50 SSR's like you said.

I liked those seats so much I went and purchased me some on eBay yesterday for 250 including shipping. They look a little different but pretty much the same. Mine are from a 2007 C class.

Wow, awesome! You should like them a lot, I've been driving my K5 off and on all day and am super happy with the way these feel. They are firm, so you don't get the sloppy recliner type feeling in them. They hold you in place well.

It just so happened that on my 85', the outer front bolt holes actually lined up width wise with the rails on the C class seats. The rear bolts, not so easy. You will need to make an adapter plate like I did for three reasons......

1. Height, they are not tall enough, I found that 3" higher in the front and 1.5" higher in the rear is perfect.

2. Angle, your adapter plate needs to angle up the seats just a tad, if you don't they are uncomfortable.

3. Obviously this gives you more options to get them bolted in.

Thanks those adapter hights help a lot!

Great job! :waytogo:
Look like it turned out real nice.
Makes me jealous that I haven't finished mine, but I'm trying not to cut any corner just to get it finished sooner.
