My nephew blew up his tranny in his \'95 4x4 - What years will work?

What years will work in a 1995 xtra cab 1/2 ton 4x4? He has a 4L60E. Will a later model tranny work? Say 1999-2001?!?!

it has to be from behind a 350, so 92/93-98(went to the 5.3/6.0 in 98/99)

93-98 4l60e will work. 92 transmissions were not electronic controlled. 95 is a tbi motor with a 4l60e or 4l80e, my 95 had a 4l80e. Also from behind a 305 or 454 would be fine doesn't have to be a 350. Though 454 would come with 4l80e.

actually, both the 4L60 and the 4L60E were avalible in 92, and you're right about the 454, I forgot about that, just no newer then 99(no LS1 style trans)

it needs to be from 93-95. in 96 the case was changed to a 2 piece case and they also changed the output pattern on the 4x4 cases. the 96 on is a 6bolt round instead of the 4 bolt square

both were available in 93.
